This is a fantasy-themed KS2 maths practice RPG game for kids and students. Players can choose from 16 different math categories, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It includes fractions, decimals, and a timed multiplication speed test. You select from 24 different characters such as knights, rangers, warriors, wizards, witches, and elves. To win a math battle, you must answer at least 7 out of 10 questions correctly. Once you win a game, you gain one shield for that category. Try to earn 4 shields per category and unlock as many weapons and accessories as you can. Expect games to get harder the more math battles you play. Defend the Kingdom of Mathematica while sharpening your math skills.

  • Choose any math category you want to play from the Battle Cards.
  • Each math battle comes with 10 questions. Answer at least 7 questions correctly to win the game.
  • Every right answer damages the enemy. If the answer is wrong, the enemy damages your character.
  • Try to win 4 games to collect 4 shields per category. Challenge yourself to complete all the achievements.

How to Play

Get your brain, paper, and pencil ready to solve math problems. Answer at least 7 out of 10 questions correctly to win a math battle from evil wizards, trolls, giant spiders, hobgoblins, and dragons. No cheating!

  • Starting the Game
    • To begin the game, select the play arrow button in the middle of the screen.
    • This takes you to the “Create New Game” screen. Select a card to begin a new game.
    • Next, the game takes you to the character selection screen. You can create up to 3 characters at once.
    • Pick a character from any of the the following groups:
      • Knights
      • Warriors
      • Elves
      • Rangers
      • Witches
      • Wizards
    • Players can customize their accessories and appearance based on treasures and weapons they’ve unlocked.
    • The game automatically saves your progress in the local browser. Once your character unlocks achievements, it’s recorded. You can pick up where you left.
    • Next is the Choose Battle selection screen. If it’s your first time to play, you’ll start at the Training Area.
    • The Training Area shows a brief demo of how the game works and what controls to use.
    • After you complete training, you can choose any math category by shuffling through the battle arena cards.
    • You can choose from 16 math category arenas of Mathematica. Select any category you would like to focus on:
      1. Training Area (for players starting the game)
      2. Colosseum of Challenges Weekly Event (mixed math problems)
      3. Palace of Place Value
      4. Addition and Subtraction Shire
      5. Mysterious Mountains of Multiplication
      6. Dark Tower Division
      7. Forest of Fractions and Decimals
      8. Ruins of Ratio and Proportion
      9. Ancient City of Algebra
      10. Mines of Measurement
      11. Deadly Sea of Shapes
      12. Swamp Statistics
      13. Battle for Mathematica (mixed math problems)
      14. Battle for Mathematica (Timed mixed math problems)

  • Other Opening Screen Options
    • On the upper right corner is the audio button. Select this to mute or unmute the game’s music, voice narration, and sound effects.
    • Beside the audio button on the upper right corner is a cog button. Avoid this button or it will stop the game.
    • On the bottom right corner of the screen is the “How to play” button. Select it to view instructions on the mechanics of the game.
    • On the top left corner is the exit button. This will take you to view other games.
  • Game Controls
    • Touchscreen
      • To select a math battle category, just tap the arrow on the selection screen. Once you’ve chosen a battle category, tap on the icon.
      • For questions that require you to select on the screen, just tap the right answer. Then tap the green check button to enter your final answer.
      • For questions that require you to arrange the order of numbers, just tap and drag the number blocks. Then press the green check button to enter your final answer.
      • For questions that require you to type the number, select the green keypad button on the upper right corner of the screen. Use the keypad to enter the answer and press the green check button.
    • Mouse and Keyboard
      • To choose a math category, left click the arrow on the selection screen. Once you’ve decided on the category, left click on the category icon.
      • For questions that require you to select on the screen, just click the right answer. Then click the green check button to enter your final answer.
      • For questions that require you to arrange the order of numbers, just click and drag the number blocks. Then click the green check button to enter your final answer.
      • For questions that require you to type the number, select the green keypad button on the upper right corner of the screen. Use the keypad to enter the answer and press the green check button.
      • Alternatively, you can use your keyboard to type the answer. Just type the number and press enter.
    • Pausing and Resetting the Game
      • To pause the game, select the red pause button on the upper right corner of the screen. To resume the game, simply press the play arrow button.
      • If you wish to reset the current game you’re playing, press the restart button in the pause screen. This is a round arrow on the left side of the play button.
        • If you wish to exit your current game, select the home button at the top left corner of the screen. This takes you back to the Choose Battle selection screen.
  • Strategy
    • Defend the Kingdom of Mathematica from evil trolls, wizards, dragons, and giant spiders by winning math battles in each of the 16 categories.
    • In each battle, you must answer 10 questions. For every question you get right, you inflict damage on the enemy.
    • But if your answer is wrong, the enemy inflicts damage on your character.
    • Make sure to answer at least 7 out of 10 questions correctly to win a math battle.
    • When you win a math battle, you earn a shield for the category. Likewise, if you lose a battle, you lose one shield for that category.
    • Winning 4 math battles in a category gives you 4 shields. As a challenge, try to win all 4 shields in each Mathematica category.
      • Each category battle starts off easy. But the more you compete, be prepared for harder math questions.
      • Every time you play, expect to get different math problems. Depending on the category, the numbers become higher and the questions more complex.
      • Always have your pencil and paper ready. The game is generally not timed, though you can choose to play timed math battles.
      • Take your time to solve each problem. Some questions may be easy, but they get trickier especially when you compete for the fourth shield.
      • It gets harder every time, so don’t let your guard down. It’s fun to play it again and again because it never gets boring or predictable.
    • Colosseum of Challenges Weekly Event
      • This is a mixed math operation category that’s updated weekly.
      • When you complete a challenge, you can win a weapon and use it until the end of the week.
      • The game tells you when the next challenge will be so you can play and update your weapon.
    • Battle for Mathematica
      • In this category, the enemy chooses 10 random questions from any of the battle categories.
      • Expect a mix of math operations, word problems, percentages, units of measurements, decimals, fractions, graphs, place values, etc.
      • It may ask to compute Roman Numerals, compute perimeters, and identify geometric lines and figures.
      • This is the ultimate math test battle game. Play this category to practice all math operations.
      • You can play a timed Battle Mathematica game. Players have 15 minutes to answer all 10 questions.
    • Times Table Trials
      • This is ideal for students who want to practice their multiplication skills.
      • To make it more challenging, try to play a timed multiplication game.
      • In the timed Times Table Trials, you are given 10 seconds to write the correct answer.
    • If you’re still figuring out a particular math category, it helps to play that category more often.
    • If you’re not good with fractions and decimals, then it’s best to start playing that category.
    • The more you practice, the better your math skills will be. And the more games you will win.
    • Enjoy unlocking all the achievements. Try to answer 10 questions in a topic, or complete 5 battles.
    • You can even unlock all the magical animals. There are many achievements to unlock, so don’t stop there.
    • The more games you play, the more treasure and HP you get. This allows you to unlock more treasures and accessories to customize your characters.
      • Have fun sharpening your arithmetic skills while defending Mathematica. This magical game helps encourage kids and students master math skills, from basic operations to complex problems.
