How to Play
Help Ben travel safely through a video game world using as few code blocks as possible.
Starting the Game
Select the green play button on the lower right corner of the welcome screen.
Select a level group from the level group selection screen.
At the bottom corner of the level selection screen is a message informing the player of the tutorial in the first few levels.
Toggle the game’s audio via the sound button on the upper right corner of the screen.
Choose the home button on the upper left corner to return to the welcome screen.
Your browser automatically saves your progress and high score.
Left click and drag code to move it into place.
Use your fingers like a mouse.
Choose between 3 level blocks
From there, you can select which levels you’d like to play.
You start with only 2 level blocks and 3
The levels begin with a 2D-3D pan of the game environment.
Get code instructions from the top center corner of the screen.
On the top left corner is a list of commands.
On the bottom left corner is a depiction of how the commands would look as code.
On the bottom center corner is the run code button.
On the top right corner is the pause button.
On the bottom right corner is the eye button.
Get a top level view of the level by clicking on the eye button. Click on the eye button again to return to ground level view.
Select and drag around the level to look around the level from the ground.
Use the pause menu to navigate across the game.
The largest button in the center is the play button. Use this to resume game play.
Below the pause button are other options:
The home button brings you back to the welcome page.
The grid button brings you back to level selection.
The question mark button opens the tutorial screen.
The sound button toggles the game’s audio.
Select and drag code blocks to get Ben to the end point of the level.
You have several basic commands (walk, turn, jump, transform)
Walking is how you move around.
Jumping allows you to cross chasms.
Turning lets you change direction.
Transforming lets you take advantage of Ben’s alien forms.
Alter the values of the code blocks by selecting them.
Combine code to navigate through the level efficiently.
Use repeating codes to make travel efficient.
Move around or through obstacles using special commands.
Test out the code you’ve linked together by hitting run.
Clearing the level
Avoid falling into water or walking through acid or spikes.
Move around obstacles if you can.
Whenever possible, use Ben’s alien forms to bust through obstacles.
Some aliens, like Cannonbolt and Fourarms, are crucial to removing obstacles.
If you see a computer, navigate through it. It will trigger platforms from out of the water.
Collect as many of the tokens as you can.
The game is as much a puzzle strategy game as it is a coding tutorial.
When you reach the other side, you’ve cleared the level.
You must complete the level in as few blocks as possible to earn the best rating possible.
Failing to get to your destination when you run the code brings you back to the starting position.
To get the highest (3-star) rating, collect them all within the minimum number of code blocks.
Your score is based on the number of Omnitrix tokens you collect before your reach the end of the level.
You gain a bonus from solving the level below the required number of code blocks.
Observe the map from above to plan out a course of action.
Take note of the number of blocks you need to travel to get to your destination.
Focus on reaching the destination first before anything else.
Don’t be afraid of a little trial and error when trying to solve the level at first. More trial and error when you replay the level is the key to getting the best ratings.
