How to Play

Each move you make must capture a piece. Keep moving pieces around the board using valid moves until only a single piece remains.

• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen, select the arrow on the bottom row to begin.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress,

  • Desktop
    • With your mouse, left click to select.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap on the screen with your fingers to select.
  • Controls and indicators (left to right)
    • Top row:
      • Grid button: Quits the level and returns you to the level selection screen.
      • Level number
      • Music button: Turns the game’s music on and off
    • Bottom row:
      • Remaining pieces
      • Reset button: Returns the level to the way it was at the beginning
      • X button: Exits the game and closes the tab it’s in
• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • Move the chess pieces and capture the other pieces as you would in chess:
      • Pawns capture diagonally and move one space at a time in a straight line.
      • Bishop moves and captures pieces diagonally.
      • Rooks move and capture in a straight line.
      • Knights move two spaces forward and one space to the side in an L shape. They can jump over other pieces but can only capture the piece they land on.
      • Queens can move and capture in any linear direction.
      • Kings can move and capture pieces one space at a time.
    • Pick a piece and capture the other pieces with it.
      • Each move you make must capture a piece.
      • Pieces you can capture are highlighted in green when you select a piece to move.
      • You may need to switch pieces to make this happen.
    • Capture pieces until only one piece is left in the level.
      • In some of the levels, there is more than one way to capture all of the pieces.
      • In others, you can only finish the level by using a specific piece or sequence of pieces.
    • If you’re ever stuck, left click or tap on the reset button to start the level from the beginning.
  • Levels
    • There are 101 levels in this game, which are unlocked sequentially.
    • The first two levels of the game (Levels 0 and 1) act as a tutorial.
    • You can replay any of the levels you’ve already unlocked.
