How to Play

Defeat all the monsters on each stage to activate the exit portal. Safely make it through the glowing portal onto the next stage.

• Starting the Game
  • Press the Play button in the center of the welcome screen to bring up the level select screen.
    • Select the first level to start the game, or play any level in any order.
    • All levels are unlocked off the start of the game.
  • The upper right corner of the welcome screen has buttons for sound control and music control.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Jump by pressing the up arrow key or the W key.
    • Move left by pressing the left arrow key or the A key.
    • Move right by pressing the right arrow key or the D key.
    • Around half way through the game you can throw snowballs by pressing either the X key or the J key.
      • The level where snowballs first become available has a key overlay on it.
    • Press the R key to restart the current level.
    • Press the ESC key to go to the main menu.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Unfortunately this game was designed primarily for computers with an attached keyboard & may not be playable on smartphones.
  • Controls & indicators
    • The circle around your character indicates the radius around you where you’ll impact nearby monsters.
    • Enemies turn blue when defeated.
    • The exit portal turns orange after all the enemies have been defeated.
• Game Play
  • Basics
    • Safely move the penguin around the level while avoiding the spikes and enemies.
    • Move in such a way that you cause all the bad guys to run into spikes, or hit them with snowballs.
      • On some stages the enemies move toward where you are standing & on some levels they move away from you. You have an impact on their movement when they are within your surrounding circle.
      • Sometimes you need the enemies to die in a specific location to keep an activation switch hit or to act as a ledge you can jump off of to reach another platform.
    • Once all enemies have been defeated the portal will shift from gray to glowing orange.
      • Exit through it to the next stage.
  • Levels
    • This game has 16 stages which are unlocked sequentially.
      • Beat one level to unlock the next.
      • You can replay previously beat levels any time you like.
    • Winning vs losing
      • You beat a level by exiting through the portal without getting hit.
      • To make the portal accessible you need to defeat all the enemies on the stage.
      • This game offers unlimited continues.
        • If you run into an enemy which is not yet frozen or hit the spikes you’ll die & start the level over again from the beginning of the level.
        • If you make an error you can press the R key to restart the current level.
  • Tips
    • Enemies as assistants & platforms
      • You may need to push an ice block around the stage or have an enemy push it so you can use it as a step.
      • Similarly you may need to have the enemy perish in a locations where you can use them as ledges & have all the gates activated by the switches.
      • The order you defeat enemies matters as it enables you to have all the gates activated by the switches.
    • Gates & switches
      • When enemies are passing through gates make sure you do not step off of the activation switch until they are fully through the gates or else they can be frozen in the wrong location.
      • On some stages you need to be careful not to prematurely defeat an enemy which has to walk on multiple different switches to open multiple gates for you.
• Target Audience
  • The game is suited for players who like retro platformer games.
  • The game has no adult themed content.
