How to Play
Use the direction keys on your mouse to move your snake to eat coins without running into itself.
- Game Controls
- Use a touchscreen or the direction keys on your keyboard to control your snake.
- This game has no pause, so if your snake is longer than the playing field is wide you will be in a bit of trouble.
- Levels
- This game does not have set levels, but has three different difficulty modes: easy, normal, and hard.
- On easier difficulty modes your snake moves slower and only slowly adds to its length as it eats coins. On hard mode the snake moves much faster and grows 3 units in length for each coin it eats.
- If you have never played snake before you might want to try playing on easy.
- If you have played before and were ok at it you might want to try medium.
- If you were great at the game try hard mode.
- Strategy
- This game does not have walls or edges, but instead wraps.
- The game is wider than it is tall, so as you grow longer it can make sense to approach things from the side rather than from above or below.
- Making sharp turns is risky, so ideally you can turn in advance and align your snake at least a few blocks before getting to the coin.
- If your snake is on hard mode and the snake is quite long you can go back and forth moving a line or two up or down on the opposing side of the screen to use up much of your length to give yourself more flexibility when approaching the coin.

If you’ve ever had a Nokia phone, you’ve likely heard of Snake. The OG mobile game puts you in control of a hungry snake who must eat to get longer. Crashing the snake into a wall or itself spells game over.
This version captures the essence of the Snake games. Like the later versions of the game, it has no walls you can crash into. However, you don’t get any powerups, which makes it more like the original. Besides the graphical update, Neon Snake’s GUI also provides a gameplay advantage. The gameplay grid helps you estimate the space you need to avoid crashing the snake into itself.
If you’re new, here’s a tip: Move your serpent up and down in a single direction. This is a great arcade game to while away a lazy afternoon for both newbies and veterans alike. Retro mobile gamers in particular will get their flashback fix from the 2000s.
