Game Play
Basics
This is a pixelated room escape game based on a ninja which is always running other than when he is jumping or sliding down a wall.
Jump as needed to avoid hazards & to activate any switches which are needed to be activated to clear a path to the red torii gate.
You can climb walls by jumping back and forth.
Collect the key and pass through the red torii gate.
Features
Red torii gates – the gate at the end of the stage you must pass through to beat a level.
Orange torii gates – these act as warps which can be used in both directions.
Some stages have multiple sets of these.
Keys – from level 3 onward you need to grab the key to unlock the red torii gate at the end of the level.
Switches – stepping on a switch can cause shuriken to shoot at you, or it can reposition spikes on the level.
Some switches work individually while others work in pairs.
Spikes – you die if you run into spikes. Some spikes are retractable based on switch positions.
Lava – you die if you fall into the lava.
Shuriken – some switches you step on throw a ninja star at you. The switches which have this feature are the floor below where a shuriken is pictured on a nearby wall.
In some cases you may be able to avoid shurikens, but in most cases they will kill you.
Temporary bridges – thin blue bridges fall apart by the individual tile immediately after you walk on them once.
In many cases this means the bridge can only be passed once, though in some cases you can pass twice as long as you jump many times when heading in each direction.
Temporary floor platforms – the blue squares which are suspended disappear shortly after being stepped on.
Coins – some stages have coins on them which you can collect, though the coins are not used for anything.
Levels
This game has 20 stages which are unlocked sequentially.
You can go back to replay previously beat levels at any time.
Winning
You win by passing through the final torii gate on each stage.
Most stages require you to grab a key to unlock the torii gate.
Some stages have multiple torii gates which act as warps & the final redish colored gate is the one you exit through.
Losing
Levels are not timed, however there are many ways to die: fall into lava, run into spikes, or activate a switch which shoots a shuriken at you.
If you die you start the level again at the beginning.
This game offers unlimited continues.
You can also get stuck by falling off a temporary platform which is needed to later reach a higher part of the level. If this happens click on the restart button in the upper right corner of the game.
Tips
Spikes
You have to time spike jumps with tight timing, jumping just before them to have enough airtime to get over them.
If you are unable to get over a set of spikes it means you either need to go another way, or you need to step on a switch to retract the spikes.
Timing jumps
After you jump it takes a bit of time before you can jump again.
Timing your jump into a wall can be crucial on some stages as you may need to get high on the wall to reach the next platform when wall jumping back and forth.
Switches
Switches which throw shurikens should be avoided.
Switches which cause spikes to retract or extend often need to be stepped on, and sometimes stepped on repeatedly to enable access to different parts of a level.
Whenever you step on a switch see what changes & consider what parts of the level it enables access to and which parts are restricted.
Many switches operate in pairs. Sometimes you need to set a level in a precarious situation so that when you return and walk over a switch once more you restore the stage to a better state.
Pathways
Some levels require you to repeatedly backtrack and use orange torii warps in both directions multiple times.
When levels have temporary floors sometimes you have to destroy parts of the floor immediately while in other cases you have to preserve the temporary floor.
On stages with the temporary block floors you may need to skip stones in one direction to make them available to return. For example, on level 18 you jump on the even numbered blocks while heading right, jump off the wall, jump up to collect the key, and then jump onto the odd number blocks on the way back.
Target Audience
The game is suited for players who like ninja games or room escape games.
The game has no adult themed content.
