Magic Castle Solitaire Cards Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

How to Play

Clear the stack of cards by removing cards one at a time. The card’s value must be one more or one less than the face card on the bottom right corner.

  • Starting the Game
    • On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.
    • Select Help to learn the game’s rules.
    • Select High Scores to view the game’s leaderboard.
    • Use the drop-down list on the bottom left corner of the screen to choose the game’s language.
    • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
  • Game Controls
    • Desktop
      • With your mouse, left click to select cards.
    • Touchscreen devices
      • Tap on the cards onscreen with your fingers to select them.
    • Controls and indicators
      • The game’s controls and indicators are found on the top row. From left to right, they are as follows:
        • Pause button
        • Enlarge button: Lets you switch between windowed and full-screen modes
        • Level number
        • Cumulative score
        • Timer
        • Speaker button: Turns the game’s audio effects on and off
        • Music button: Turns the game’s music on and off
  • Game Play
    • Deal
      • 22 cards are dealt to the tableau using the ordinary Tripeaks Solitaire layout.
      • Initially only the 10 cards in the bottom row are face up with the remaining tableau cards dealt face down.
      • Only cards which do not have a card atop them can be face up.
      • This game uses a standard card deck, plus has 4 different types of bonus cards which can be found on the tableau.
      • Each level of the game has basically the same play experience except:
        • You get 1 fewer card in the stock for each level you play through.
        • You carry forward any remaining bonus cards you had from the prior level.
    • Basic rules
      • Clear the stack in the tableau by removing cards whose value is one more or one less than the face card.
        • To remove a card, simply left click or tap on it.
        • The card you remove will be the new face card.
        • Aces can be paired with kings or twos.
      • Only free cards can be removed. Free cards are face up and have no
      • If none of the cards on the stack can be matched, deal another card.
        • Select the rightmost card on the stock to deal a card.
        • This will replace the face card with a new one.
        • Keep replacing cards until you find one you can match.
        • Be warned: there are only 27 cards in the stock.
      • Select the undo button to take back your latest action. This comes in handy if you’ve ever made a mistake.
      • Finish clearing the stack before the timer runs out.
        • You lose the level if you run out of time or moves.
        • If you lose even one level, the playthrough ends.
    • Bonuses
      • You earn bonus cards as you play the game.
        • These appear on the right side of the screen.
        • To activate them, select them as you would an ordinary card.
        • These carry over from level to level until used.
      • Each bonus card has a different effect.
        • Chain cards adds to your chain multiplier bonus.
        • Wild cards (Jokers) can be paired with any card. You can keep a long chain going by throwing a Joker in the middle and then playing more cards atop the Joker.
        • Golden cards double the value of the points you earn from making a pair. This lasts as long as the pairs are consecutive.
        • Make visible cards briefly reveal the face down cards in the tableau and the deal row.
          • This comes in handy when planning your next move.
          • Memorize as many of the upcoming cards as you can.
      • The bonus cards that you didn’t use in one level will remain available in the next.
    • Levels
      • Levels are unlocked sequentially.
        • You automatically start every playthrough on the first level.
        • Finish one level to unlock the next.
        • Selecting Next Level starts a new level immediately after the previous one.
      • There are 6 levels in this game.
        • All levels offer a 4 minute time limit.
        • If you lose a level it is game over.
        • The tableau layout is the same for each level, but you get 1 fewer card in your stock or reserves for each subsequent level you play through.
      • The game offers 2 options each time you reload the game:
        • Select Continue previous game to play the last level you unlocked.
        • Select Start new game to clear your previous progress and start over.
    • Strategy
      • Work on all parts of the Tripeaks in parallel so you do not have to make a string of consecutive moves with few cards to match against.
      • Once you have a long streak going use your bonus cards to boost your score and use your Jokers as needed to keep the streak going to maximize your chain bonus.
      • Try to save your Jokers for the later levels of the game as you get fewer cards in the reserves as you progress through the game.
      • If you see many of the same card showing try to take them out so that you have a more diverse range of cards remaining, making it easier to match new cards dealt from the reserves.
    • Scoring
      • Your score in this game is cumulative. The points you earn in the first level carry over to the next.
      • Cards you remove consecutively earn a chain multiplier bonus.
        • Every first card you remove is worth 100 points.
        • The second is worth 150 points, the third 250 points, and so on.
        • The right combination of bonuses can geometrically increase your multiplier score.
      • You also receive 2 bonus points for every second remaining on the timer when you beat a level.
      • You can save your score to the leaderboard in the following circumstances:
        • Win all 6 levels.
        • End a level in a game over.
