How to Play

As Gumball, banish the evil spirit by reducing the cursed area in green below a specific size. The smaller the size of the cursed area, the greater your score.

• Starting the Game
  • On the bottom center corner of the screen are two options.
    • Play Game starts the game in earnest.
    • Tutorial starts the game’s tutorial mode.
    • The game begins with a short cut scene explaining the concept of the game.
  • Toggle the game’s audio by selecting the sound button on the lower right corner of the screen.
  • Select the question mark button to pause the game.
  • Your browser automatically saves your high score in the game.

    • Move using the arrow keys.
    • Activate your power ups using the space bar.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • While this game may work on touchscreen devices, its controls are optimized for desktop computers with keyboards.
• Game Play
  • Basics
    • You can only walk within or on the edge of the haunted area.
      • You cannot move down a path you’ve laid before.
    • Enclose the green, cursed area with salt lines to diminish the power of the evil spirit.
      • Moving within the green area lays down a path of salt.
      • Moving around he green area does not lay down salt.
      • To enclose an area, link up the salt lines to the edge. The closed off part away from the ghost will disappear.
    • Clear the area by a specific percentage to win the level.
    • Each new level has a much higher percentage of cursed ground you need to clear.
  • Avoiding the evil spirit.
    • If you touch the evil spirit, you get possessed. Get possessed 3 times and it’s game over.
    • The evil spirit can touch you in four ways.
      • You make physical contact with them.
      • They make contact with the salt line before you close it.
      • You make contact with their evil aura.
      • You touch either a possessed Leslie (flower) or Carrie (ghost). Yes, the ghost gets possessed by an evil spirit.
  • Power ups and multipliers
    • Each level has a multiplier, which is shaped like a yellow emoji hand doing the sign of the horns.
      • Collect the multiplier for a score bonus.
      • If you clear off the cursed area around the multiplier, it disappears.
    • Power ups help you in several ways throughout the game.
      • Activating a power up gives you a temporary bonus.
      • There are several types of power ups in the game:
        • Rocket: Gives you a speed boost.
        • Doll: Freezes your enemies.
        • Mirror: Slows down your enemies.
        • Vampire card: Makes you invincible.
      • They regenerate every so often.
• Strategies
  • Be sure to make it to the very edge when clearing a line. Slim panhandles can complicate your game play.
  • Maximize the area you reduce to bolster your high score.
    • Wait until the evil spirit goes into a corner to maximize the amount of area you reduce.
    • Make sure to leave plenty of space for you to flee from the evil spirit or the two possessed friends.
  • Seize the opportunity to collect multipliers early in the game.
  • Use power ups as often as you can.
