Game Play
Basics
In this game you have to grab the key to unlock the door and safely exit through the door.
To make it across the level you have to avoid various hazards, activate special bricks, and change forms on many levels.
Hazards
Fixed spikes – remain static. Hit them and you lose a hit point.
Moving blades – move along a railed path at a consistent speed. Bump into them and you lose at least one hit point. If you fall into them from above you keep getting hit repeatedly.
Arrows – shoot at regular intervals indefinitely on a fixed vertical or horizontal path.
Chasms – if you fall off platform through the screen bottom you lose.
Special blocks
Exclamation point – temporary blocks which fall briefly after you walk on them.
Large arrows – the block moves in the platform the arrow points as long as you stand on it.
Key block – step on it once to activate the key. If you step on it again the key needs to be collected again. The block flips status each time you step on it.
Smiley face block – step on it once to activate the smaller round version of yourself with a higher jump. Step on it again to switch back to the taller version of yourself. The block flips status each time you step on it.
Levels
This game has 20 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
You can go back and replay previously beat levels at any time.
Winning vs losing
You beat a level by safely making it to the level exit with the door unlocked.
You lose the level if you run out of health, or if you fall off platform in a chasm.
Health
You start each level with 1 heart container.
Each time you get hit by an arrow, a moving blade, or run into spikes you lose a heart container.
Some levels contain 1 or 2 heart containers on them which you can collect to add to your health.
If you beat a level with more than 1 heart container you’ll start the next stage with a heart container.
You can also destroy a necessary temporary block which makes it impossible to access the level exit.
If this happens you can press the reset button to play the level again.
This game offers unlimited continues, starting you at the beginning of any level you lost.
Coins
There are 100 coins scattered across the game.
You only keep coins which you manage to collect on levels where you beat the stage on that play.
You can beat a level without collecting all the coins on it.
If you beat a level while collecting only some of the coins you can replay that level again to collect any coins you missed the first time.
Only coins which you missed on previous plays will still appear on the stages.
Some coins are hidden behind temporary blocks or special moving blocks with arrows on them.
Tips
Collecting coins
If you beat a level but fail to collect all the coins on it keep playing through the game and come back later to complete the stages 100%.
Be aware when you collect coins that if you are on a moving block you need to adjust your path. For example, on level 10 you want to be left of the coins at the top & jump rightward to collect them, as the block with the left arrow on it will start moving back right as soon as you jump off of it.
Play order
Collect the smiley face and key as early as you can, as those are what allow you to make higher jumps and exit through the door.
Some parts of the level are on high platforms which are only accessible early in the game, or if you do not break some of the breakable blocks.
Timing
Levels are not timed, so take your time to plan out your routes.
In certain areas the timing between arrow throws requires a rather precise jump.
Some require you to be in midair and stuck on a brick while the arrow flies under you for you to be able to make it far enough across to jump over the next.
Collecting the smiley allows you to be in the air longer to make the jumps easier & reduces the size of your cross section, allowing you to move under some of them.
On level 18 you can’t pass back down on the right side since you are stuck in tall form, the rightmost block moves upward, and the gap after its initial move up is less than your height. Stand right of the second blade from the left & fall down through its path while it is above you.
Target Audience
The game is suited for players who like hand drawn platforming games.
