Monster Tetrix Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

How to Play

Arrange and drop the tetrominos onto the bottom of the shaft. Build and clear full lines made of the tetrominos for as long as you can.

• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen, select the play button to begin.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • With your keyboard:
      • Press the A key or the left arrow key to move the block left.
      • Press the D key or the right arrow key to move the block right.
      • Press the S key or down arrow to drop the blocks.
      • Press the space bar or the Z key to rotate the blocks.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • With your fingers:
    • Tap on the left and right arrows to move the blocks horizontally.
    • Tap on the down arrow to drop the blocks.
    • Tap on the rotate button to rotate the blocks.
  • Controls and indicators (right side, top-down):
    • Score
    • Lines cleared
    • Next piece
    • Middle row (left to right)
      • Speaker button: Turns the game’s sounds on or off
      • Home button: Quits the game and returns you to the welcome screen
    • Upper bottom row (left to right):
      • Left arrow
      • Rotate button
      • Right arrow
    • Down arrow

  • Setting up
    • Read the instructions of the game if you’re playing for the first time.
    • Below the instructions are the game’s speed options. They influence the game’s difficulty.

  • Basic rules
    • The game works similarly to Tetris
      • You start with a falling 4 x 4 block (a tetromino) with another one on the way.
      • Carefully arrange the arriving tetrominos in a way that allows you to form full lines.
      • The game clears out the full lines, allowing you to keep the growing stack of tetrominos from going too high.
      • The game ends when the stack reaches the top of the screen.
    • Unlike in the original Tetris, the speed of the game is set in advance and remains constant throughout a session.
    • Aesthetically, the monster blocks forming the rows at the bottom share the same face.
      • If a new block with a different face lands on them, they all turn into that new block.
      • Block faces aren’t tied with colors.
    • Scoring
      • Your score is based on the number of lines you’ve cleared.
      • Your final score and playing time are shown on the game over screen.
