How to Play

This is a simple level escape game where you must first collect the key to unlock the door and then pass through the open door. Time your jumps to avoid spikes and collect up to 3 stars.

• Starting the Game
  • Press the PLAY button on the loading screen to bring up the welcome screen.
  • Press the PLAY button on the welcome screen to bring up the level select screen.
    • Levels are unlocked sequentially.
    • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress including beat levels and level ratings.
  • The welcome screen has a credits button for developer credits and a more button linking to our homepage. The upper right corner of the welcome screen has a sound control button.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • As intended by game developer
      • Left click to start running.
      • Left click to jump & left click twice to double jump.
    • Cheesy & easy method not intended by game developer
      • Rather than tapping to start use the arrow keys to move.
        • Press the left arrow key to walk left.
        • Press the right arrow key to walk right.
        • Press the up arrow key to jump. Press twice to double jump.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap the screen to start running.
    • Tap the screen to jump & tap twice to double jump.
  • Controls & indicators
    • The upper left corner of the screen shows what level number you are playing.
    • Your star rating is shown top center.
    • The upper right corner of the screen has a pause button.
    • The level select screen shows which levels you have unlocked and your star rating on each.
• Game Play
  • Basics
    • If you play the game the normal way your character automatically runs until he runs into something and then turns and runs in the opposite direction.
    • Timing your jumps is critical as jumping too early or late can lead to hitting spikes, missing a platform, or hitting your head off an obstacle which causes you to change directions.
  • Levels
    • This game has 21 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
      • You can go back and replay previously beat levels at any time.
    • Star ratings
      • You can earn up to 3 stars on each stage by running into the stars.
      • If you earn fewer than 3 stars you can still beat the level & then can go back to replay it later to try to collect all 3 stars.
    • Winning vs losing
      • You beat a level by collecting the key and safely passing through the door.
      • You lose a level if you run into spikes.
      • This game offers unlimited continues starting you at the beginning of any failed level.
  • Tips
    • If you are struggling to get 3 stars on a stage accept a lower rating and play through all the other levels until they are beat then come back to it.
    • If you are struggling to beat a particular level consider playing the easy/cheesy way mentioned above.
    • On many stages you need to go out of your way to *NOT* collect the key until after collecting all the stars. If you run pass the tree with an open door you will go in the door and can not collect any more stars.
