Splitting the atom had many consequences for human technology, some of them helpful also potentially dangerous if handled improperly. Fortunately, we’re not dealing with any of that in this game, but we get to see how it works in action. Burst just one of the circles with letters and cause a cascading chain reaction.

How to Play

Pop a circle to release dots that will pop the other circles.

• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • With your mouse, left click on the large lettered circle to launch the smaller circles.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap on the large lettered circle to launch the smaller circles.
  • Controls and indicators
    • Reset button: Restores the level to the way it was at the beginning
    • Music button: Turns the game’s sounds on and off
    • Home button: Quits the level and returns you to the welcome screen
• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • You start each level with a series of lettered circles.
      • Each circle has between 1 and 4 dots.
      • Most circles are stationary.
    • When you click or tap on a large circle, it will pop, sending the dots flying in a straight line.
      • The direction the smaller circles move is determined by their position on the bigger circle.
      • The dots can fly in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line.
    • When one of the dots hits a large circle, that circle will pop and release its dots.
    • A few circles after Level 8 can be moved around.
      • You can position them in open cells on the grid by sliding them around one dot at a time.
        • Positioning is critical for making the level beatable.
      • These cannot be popped when you select them.
        • These circles can only be popped as part of a chain reaction started by another atom.
    • To clear the level, you must pop the circle that would cause all the others to pop in a chain reaction.

      • You automatically start with only the first level platable.
      • Finish one level to unlock the next.
    • This game has 30 levels.
      • You can replay any of the levels you’ve already unlocked.

What’s This About Splitting Atoms

Using instruments that shoot a subatomic particle moving very fast at the center of an atom (the nucleus), scientists can effectively split it into two atoms. The new atoms formed will be of a different element (pure substance) altogether.

Depending on the element used, you can also use this to make a lot of energy. This is especially true if you used heavy radioactive substances like uranium. Split a few uranium atoms and they cause other atoms to split, creating a chain reaction that goes on and on. Though it does come with a price; the waste created from nuclear power is lethal to humans must be handled with extreme care.
