How to Play

Bounce the balls aroound to break the bricks on the top part of the screen.

• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen:
    • Select the play button to begin.
    • Select the gear button to open the audio sliders. Move the sliders up and down to change the volume of the game’s music and sound effects.
  • When you first start the game, you have the option to begin with a tutorial.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your high score.

    • With your mouse:
      • Left click to launch the ball.
      • Move your cursor to operate the paddle.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • With your fingers:
      • Tap to launch the ball.
      • Tap and swipe to move the paddle.
  • Controls and indicators (top row, left to right):
    • Pause button
    • Score
    • Remaining lives
• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • Moving the paddle
      • Left click or tap to launch the ball.
        • The paddle is immobile at the start of the game.
        • You can move the paddle once the ball is launched.
      • Move the paddle around and catch the ball to keep it in play.
    • Breaking the bricks
      • Colored bricks can be broken. White bricks cannot.
      • A solid brick must be struck twice to be broken. When a solid brick is hit once, it turns into a cracked brick.
      • Cracked bricks will be destroyed once hit.
    • Finishing the game
      • Once you clear all the bricks, you’ve finished the level.
        • A new level automatically starts once you’re done.
        • Each level has a different configuration of bricks.
      • Keep playing as many levels as you can.
      • When you restart the game, it’s the new level you unlocked that you immediately begin with.
  • Power ups
    • You have a small chance of dislodging a power up from breaking a brick.
    • Collect the power ups with your paddle.
    • Each power up provides a different benefit:
      • A ball power up will release two extra balls you can use to clear more bricks faster. You only need to retain one to keep playing.
      • A gun power up lets your paddle shoot at the bricks from either end. This works for a short time.
      • A heart power up replenishes your lives.
      • A paddle power up lengthens your paddle for a short time.
  • Lives
    • You start each session with 2 extra lives.
    • Lose the ball and you lose 1 life.
    • Lose all your lives and it’s game over.
    • Collect heart power ups to replenish 1 life.
  • Scoring
    • You earn 1 point each time the ball hits a block.
    • You can view your latest and best scores on the game over screen.
  • Tips
    • You can change the trajectory of the ball based on where it hits the paddle.
      • A ball landing at the center of the paddle goes straight up.
      • A ball landing to the edges goes to the sides at a shallow angle.
    • See if you can get the ball to the top of the stack of bricks. Once there, it will bounce around and break more bricks by itself until it falls back down.
