Brick Breaker Retro Game for Kids Video Game Play Instructions

How to Play

Bounce the ball back and forth using the paddle to take out all the breakable blocks on the top portion of the screen.

• Starting the Game
  • On the loading screen, select Play at the center to bring up the welcome screen.
  • On the welcome screen:
    • Select Play to begin.
    • Select the speaker button on the top right corner to turn the game’s sounds on or off.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • With your mouse, left click and drag to move the paddle.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap on the screen with your fingers and swipe to move the paddle.
  • Controls and indicators
    • Game screen (top row, left to right):
      • Remaining lives
      • Level number
      • Reset button: Clears your progress and starts the level from the beginning
      • Gear button: Pauses the game and opens the game’s settings screen
    • Settings screen (center, top-down):
      • Restart: Starts the level again from the beginning
      • Mute: Turns the game’s sounds off
      • Resume: Returns you to the game
• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • The game plays like a regular brick breaking game, with a few differences.
      • Launch the ball from the paddle.
        • Unlike in other games, you cannot move the paddle until the ball is launched.
      • The breakable bricks are protected by a series of non-breakable walls.
      • You must bounce the ball past the wall to start breaking the bricks.
        • This does mean that it’s harder for the ball to just fall off.
        • You are more likely to lose the ball before launching in earlier levels.
    • Collect power ups that fall down.
      • These will give you two bonuses:
        • A longer paddle
        • Two extra balls
      • In practice, your goal is to collect enough extra ball power ups to create an unstoppable hail of balls to clear out the entire level.
    • Clear out all the breakable balls in the level to win.
  • Levels
    • The game has 30 levels, which are unlocked sequentially.
    • You can replay any of the levels you’ve already beaten.
      • To replay a level, select its number on the level selection screen.
  • Lives and star ratings
    • You begin each level with 3 lives.
    • Each time you drop the last ball in play, you lose a life.
    • Lose all your lives and it’s game over.
    • The number of lives you needed to finish the level determines its star rating. If you lose no lives, for instance, you win a 3-star rating.
• Target Audience
  • The game is suited for players who like brick breaker games.
  • The game has no adult themed content.
