How to Play

Collect all 5 presents in each stage and make it to Santa’s sleigh before the timer reaches zero. Collect the S-A-N-T-A letters in each stage to unlock a bonus round after each stage.

• Starting the Game
  • Select the Start Game button on the welcome screen to start the game.
  • If you have played the game before and have unlocked any of the bonus levels you can also click on the Special levels button to play those.
  • Underneath the above buttons are buttons for playing in full screen mode & game developer credits. The upper right corner of the game has a sound control button.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Press the W key or the up arrow key to jump.
    • Press the A key or the left arrow key to move left.
    • Press the D key or the right arrow key to move right.
    • Press the P key to pause the game or resume play.
    • Press the F key to enter fullscreen mode.
    • Press the M key to turn game music on or off.
    • Press the H key to return to the home screen.
    • On some of the mini games you are required to left click your mouse to charge up presents you intend to throw from the ground, or to time dropping presents from Santa’s sleigh.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Move left or right using the buttons in the lower left corner of the game.
    • Jump using the button in the lower right corner of the game.
    • The upper left corner of the screen has buttons to pause the game or return home.
    • The upper right corner of the screen has buttons to switch to fullscreen play and control game music.
  • Controls & indicators
    • The top center of the game shows your remaining play time, collected presents, letters collected, level number, and cumulative game score.

• Game Play
  • Basics
    • Collect all the presents on each stage to unlock Santa’s sleigh and make it to the sleigh before the 3 minute timer runs out.
    • Stomp green goblins & avoid other enemies. From level 4 onward you are required to defeat the green goblins as many of them are carrying presents you need to unlock the sleigh.
    • Collect all 5 S-A-N-T-A letters to unlock a bonus round at the end of each stage.
  • Levels
    • This game has 7 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
      • You can’t go back and replay previously beat levels without starting the game over.
      • Levels give you 3 minutes to beat them.
        • Early levels can be beaten in about a half a minute, while the later levels can require a bit more time to beat.
        • Each level has a different layout, with later levels requiring more precisely timed jumps.
        • Grabbing all 5 letters on the fifth level is quite hard as you have to make a lot of precision jumps near the top of the screen.
        • On the seventh and final level you walk right to the end of the level & then come back across the top of the screen (with much of the walk offscreen / out-of-screen high) to come back to the sleigh.
      • Most levels have platforms which move in a regular pattern you can time.
        • When jumping while on a platform it is best to jump while the platform is headed the same direction you are.
        • If a platform is also changing its vertical position, it is better to jump while it is moving downward rather than upward to give yourself more time to land your jump.
        • Some platforms have arrows on either end of them & move left or right based on what edge of the platform you are standing on.
    • Dying
      • If the level timer reaches zero you die.
      • If you fall off platform you die.
      • If you hit spikes or run into enemies twice you die.
        • The spikes have a dark color which blends into the site design, making it easy to accidentally run into them.
      • If you die twice it is game over & you start back at the first level.
      • You can jump on top of the green goblins & must do so starting from level 4 onward, as many of the presents are only accessed by defeating a goblin which stole them.
        • Generally it is best to jump or fall onto green goblins while they are moving toward you rather than away from you.
        • Other enemies can’t be beaten & must be avoided.
    • Winning
      • You beat a level by making it to Santa’s sleigh after collecting all 5 presents.
        • The sleigh will only appear after all presents have been collected.
        • Starting from level 4 onward you should defeat all the green goblins as some of them are holding hidden presents.
      • You can unlock the bonus round associated with a level by collecting the S-A-N-T-A letters, though are not required to collect them to beat the regular stages.
  • Special levels
    • This game has 7 special bonus levels.
      • Each bonus level is unlocked by collecting the letters to spell out S-A-N-T-A in the corresponding level of the game.
      • Once a bonus level has been unlocked once it remains unlocked, even if you start the game over.
      • You can play bonus levels after each stage of the game during regular play, or you can practice any of them individually from the Special levels menu.
    • Diamond Rain – move left and right to capture falling diamonds.
    • Santa Runner – horizontal runner where you control your jump timing to collect as many diamonds as you can.
    • Memory Game – memory flashcard matching game. This game shows a brief preview before turning the cards over & you have 1:30 to make 12 pairs from the 24 cards. If you clear the board you are given a second or third deal until the timer runs out.
    • Climbing to the Diamonds – move left or right rapidly while climbing upward, collecting as many diamonds as you can along your way.
    • Gift throwing – charge up your gift throwing to the correct strength and throw as many presents into the chimney as you can.
    • Drop the gifts – time when to tap to drop gifts down the chimneys below. Some houses have chimneys on the near or far side, requiring different timing to hit.
    • Brick out – a low fidelity remake of the Pong-like brick breaking arcade game.
