How to Play

Slide the blocks of ice to create a path for the pengui to exit the chamber.

• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen, select Start to begin.
  • Select the speaker button on the top right corner to turn the game’s sound effects on or off.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • With your mouse, left click and drag to move the blocks of ice.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap and swipe on the screen with your fingers to move the blocks of ice.
  • Controls and indicators
    • Top row
      • Level number
      • Move counter
      • Help button
    • Bottom row
      • Reset button: Restarts the level
      • Hint button: Shows you a hint
      • Speaker button
      • Exit button: Quits the game and returns you to the level selection screen
• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • Lead the penguin out of the chamber by moving the blocks of ice.
      • Blocks of ice can slide either horizontally or vertically. No block of ice can move both ways.
      • Move the ice in such a way that creates a path for the baby penguin.
    • To make room for the ice blocks, you can also move the baby penguin.
    • When the penguin has a clear path, they will automatically exit the chamber.
  • Star ratings
    • Your star rating depends on the number of moves you make.
      • You must finish the game within the fewest possible moves to earn the 3 star rating.
      • The more moves you make, the lower your star rating will be.
      • Keep track of your current rating on the top left corner of the game screen.
    • Your star rating for the level is shown below its icon on the level selection screen.
  • Lives
    • You start this version of the game with 9,999 lives. You won’t need to worry about replacing them anytime soon.
    • Each playthrough of the game costs you one life.
    • Each hint costs you 5 lives.
  • Hints
    • If you’re ever stumped, you can use the hint button to help you out.
      • A hint costs 5 lives. We recommend using a hint after 2-3 tries because if you don’t figure it out by then, you probably need assistance.
      • Using hints is more cost effective after the 2-3 mark because if you do, you’ll only use up 7 lives. Waiting until you’ve reached 5 attempts will cost you a whole lot more.
      • We also recommend saving the hints for more challenging later levels.
    • When you’ve selected the hint button, the game will ask you if you really want to use up the life cost of a hint.
    • A hint is essentially a walkthrough of the game.
      • The game will highlight the spots you need to move each piece in yellow.
      • The game will only proceed if the piece lands exactly on the highlighted area.
      • Follow all of the steps to complete the level.
  • Levels
    • Levels are unlocked sequentially.
      • You start with only the first level unlocked.
      • Finish one level to unlock the next.
    • There are 240 levels in this game.
      • You can replay any of the levels you’ve unlocked to try to earn a better star rating on it.
