How to Play

Create a path to divert the lava through a vent before the lava blows a massive erruption.

• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen, select the play button to begin.
  • Select the speaker button on the top right corner to turn the game’s audio on or off.
  • Select the question mark button to open the game’s tutorial screen.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • With you mouse, left click to rotate the lava tube.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap on the lava tube with your fingers to rotate it.
  • Controls and indicators (left to right):
    • Top row:
      • Grid button: Returns you to the level selection screen
      • Speaker button: Turns the game’s audio on or off.
    • Middle row:
      • Level number
      • Timer
      • Remaining moves
    • Bottom row:
      • Add more time buttons: Allows you to extend your time by watching an ad. Currently this is disabled.
• Game Play
  • Levels
    • Levels are unlocked in sequence.
      • You start with only the first level unlocked.
      • Finish one level to unlock the next.
    • You can replay any level you’ve already unlocked.
      • There are 30 levels in this game.
  • Basic rules
    • Rotate the lava tubes to create a continuous path to direct the flow of lava.
      • The path formed must connect to at least one outflow. You cannot rotate the outflow.
      • You only have a limited number of moves. Use them wisely.
      • There is only one correct path. You must identify which of the lava tubes form the path.
      • Some levels (starting with Level 4) have multiple outflows. Both must be connected to complete the level.
      • Some levels have multiple inflows. All must be connected to outflows.
    • Finish the path before the lave overflows.
      • The timer on the top center gives you an upper limit to how long you can work on the puzzle.
      • As the game progresses, the screen fills up with lava.
      • Finish all the paths within 100 seconds.

Much Ado About Lava Tubes

Once molten rock (magma) leaves the center of a volcano, it becomes lava. Over time, lava hardens on the outside, which may become buried underground. In areas with active volcanoes, these could become lava tubes, which move lava underground. Once the eruption stops, the lava on the inside drains out quickly and the tube gradually cools into a unique type of cave.
