Kid Maestro is both a keyboard program and music tutor. Eight colorful keys allow the young musician to familiarize themselves with the basic tones. Like most kid-themed keyboards, there are no sharps or flats.
The game has two modes. One lets the player play music freeform. The other is a strike-the-keys game. The player must strike the highlighted keys to play the entire song. The game provides 12 songs for this mode.
Players have no option to play the whole song by itself, however. This may undercut its ability to serve as a teaching tool. Often, players will not recognize the song unless they know it beforehand. Nonetheless, it can be a good way to help kids learn how to play the songs they already know.
