How to Play

Type a valid word into the letter spaces provided. Use yellow letters to know where letters go and green to indicate the letter is used elsewhere in the word.

• Starting the Game
  • Select the play button at the bottom right corner of the welcome screen to begin.
  • Select the enlarge button on the top left corner to switch between windowed and full screen modes.
  • The top right corner of the welcome screen has the following controls:
    • Select the head button to see your player statistics.
    • Select the flag button to change the game’s language.
    • Select the speaker button to turn the game’s sounds on or off.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.

  • Basic rules
    • Using the in-game keyboard, select the letters to guess the word.
      • You must spell out a valid word in all of the spaces provided.
      • If you make a mistake, use the backspace button to erase the last letter you added.
      • The length of the word you need to guess depends on the difficulty of the game.
    • Each time you spell a word, the game marks each letter with a different color:
      • Green indicates that the letter is in the correct spot.
      • Yellow indicates that the letter is part of the word but is placed incorrectly.
      • Gray indicates a letter that isn’t in the word.
      • White keys have not been used yet.
    • The letters on the keyboard are also marked with the same colors as you play.
    • Keep guessing until you get the word or you run out of attempts.
      • You only have 6 attempts to guess.
      • When you run out of attempts, it’s game over.
  • Statistics
    • Your web browser saves your in-game statistics.
    • The statistics in this game include the following data:
      • Number of wins
      • Number of losses
      • Percentage of wins
      • Current streak
      • Best streak
    • The streak represents the number of remaining attempts you have. This indicates how fast it took for you to guess the word.
  • Tips
    • Valid words
      • Each word you enter must be a valid word, and must contain the number of letters shown.
      • Typically plural terms and names do not count as valid words.
    • Known unknowns
      • Since there are fewer vowels than consonants it is best to use vowel heavy words early to get a good sense of the word structure.
      • If you know a few letters early it does not mean you have to use those letters in subsequent attempts. In many cases it is best to use letters that have not yet been used (or even those you know that are not correct) to create valid words which help you explore the status of many other letters.
      • If it feels like you are stuck don’t forget to consider repeating a letter that has already been used in the word in another position. Some words in the puzzle repeat letters.
