How to Play

Follow the on-screen prompts and play the various minigames to learn about different types of cells.

• Starting the Game
  • Press the NEW GAME button on the welcome screen to start a game.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Overview game: Tap the spacebar or left click to advance through menus.
    • Platformer: While playing the platformer game you can jump by pressing the spacebar. Whenever you are walking on ground you automatically shoot.
    • Microscope: Use the arrow keys to move the slide around the microscope.
    • Bacteria game: Use the arrow keys to move around. Avoid touching larger bacteria with a red outline. Eat the food and other bacteria which has a green highlight.
    • Respiration cells & tissue games: Use the arrow keys to move around to collect the respiration cells & tissue while avoiding other types of cells and tissues.
    • Sorting game: left click on the side of the screen in the top area to indicate what type of cell is associated with each example.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • This game was designed for play on desktop computers with connected keyboards.
  • Controls & indicators
    • The upper right corner of the game shows your total game score.
    • The lower left corner of the game has buttons for voice narration and music control.

    • This game is an interactive introduction to cells and living items. In this game players:
      • collect scientific equipment
      • examine living & non-living things under a microscope
      • compare unicellular and multicellular living organisms
      • learn about cellular reproduction, specialized cells with specific tasks, tissues & organs
  • Format
    • The game contains an overview in the lab, where players branch out into other minigames including:
      • a jumping platformer where they collect scientific equipment and different specimines for analysis
      • a microscope minigame where they closely examine specimines
      • a bacteria game where players eat smaller bacteria and food to create a larger bacteria until cellular division
      • a horizontal flying game where players control a respiration cell and try to collect other cells to create tissue, then a repeat of the same game type where players collect tissue to form an organ
      • a sorting game at the end where players sort unicellular and multicellular examples into different groups
    • The structure of the game is mixed where players spend time in the lab, out in the platformer, back in the lab, etc.
      • The areas that are repetitive are where it shows how cells reproduce and how cells combine to create tissue then an organ. In each of these games players basically play the same sort of game twice in a row for the sake of repetition.
