How to Play

As an alien invader, abduct as many hapless Earthlings as you can.

• Starting the Game
  • At the center of the welcome screen:
    • Select Start to begin.
    • Select Music to turn the game’s sounds on or off.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • With your keyboard, press any key to stop the flying saucer and activate the tractor beam.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap anywhere on the screen with your fingers to stop the saucer and activate the tractor beam.
  • Controls and indicators (top row, left to right)
    • Current score
    • Remaining lives
• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • Abducting Earthlings
      • Your ship travels in a set path just above the Earthling town. It moves from left to right, then right to left.
      • The ship moves automatically. To stop the ship, fire the tractor beam.
      • Any Earthling (be it humans, cats, or dogs) that’s caught on the beam will be sent to the ship.
      • Keep abducting as many Earthlings as you can.
    • Cops and bullets
      • Cops are the Earthling’s main mode of defense.
        • Like all of the planet’s feeble inhabitants they flee like cowards. Collect them as you would the others.
        • A few will try to shoot at you at least once before running away. Their courage is fleeting.
      • However, for some awful reason their bullets can still damage your flying saucer!
        • You have no defenses against their weapons. If you are hit three times, your ship will crash!
        • Stop or move the ship at the right time to dodge the bullets before they make contact.
    • Lives
      • You begin each session with 3 lives, shown as hearts on the top right corner of the screen.
      • Each time you get shot at, you lose a life.
      • Lose all your lives and it’s game over.
  • Scoring
    • Every Earthling creature you abduct and imprison on the ship is worth a set number of points, which vary between 20 and 60 points.
    • The most common amount of points you’ll receive for every abduction is worth around 40 points.
• Target Audience
  • The game is suited for players who like simple UFO games.
  • The game has no adult themed content.

Wait, how do the aliens keep losing in those invasion stories?

Science fiction storytellers have a myriad ways to depict an otherwise technological superior alien invasion force eventually being beaten back. Today, it usually involves humans engaging in a long, drawn out guerilla war that has them win through sheer determination (see Stargate SG 1). Sometimes, the humans find a way to hit the alien war effort where it hurts (see Independence Day, Titan A.E.) Sometimes aliens sympathetic to humans help us out (see the original The Day the Earth Stood Still). Or the aliens could just be very dumb (see Invader Zim).

In the earliest alien invasion stories, though, it was usually something small and insignificant that humans probably didn’t even consider. In the book War of the Worlds (the very first one), it was germs. The aliens never had to deal with Earth germs before so they all got sick and died after they seemed to be winning. Our game mimics that by having the aliens’ tech succumb to simple lead bullets. Hey, you are playing the bad guy in this story.
