How to Play

Keep the ball bouncing between you and your opponent. Earn points each time your opponent misses.

• Starting the Game
  • On the welcome screen, select Play to begin.
  • On the main menu, choose a game mode:
    • Campaign
    • 1-Player
    • 2-Player
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Keyboard controls
      • Player 1 (left)
        • Use the A and D keys to move.
        • Use the V key to swing
      • Player 2 (right)
        • Use the left and right arrows to move
        • Use the L key to swing.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • With your fingers:
      • Tap on the left and right buttons to move.
      • Tap on the swing button to swing.
  • Controls and indicators
    • Top row (left to right)
      • Back button: Quits the game and returns you to the main menu
      • Player 1 controls
      • Player 2 controls
      • Top right corner (top-down):
        • Speaker button: Turns the game’s sounds and off
        • Reset button: Restarts the match from the beginning
    • Bottom row
      • Left and right buttons (touchscreen only)
      • Bottom center (top-down)
        • Player 1 score
        • Player 2 score
      • Swing button (touchscreen only)
• Game Play
  • Character selection
    • In single-player and 2-player games, you and your friend can choose characters to play as.
    • You can also choose the AI opponent in single-player matches.
    • Each character represents a specific country.
    • Once you’ve selected a character, select Play to start the match.
  • Basic rules
    • Service and returns
      • To serve, use the swing control to launch the ball, then swing again.
        • If you fail to serve, you gain a fault. You must try to serve again.
        • You’ll receive a doubled fault if you fail a second time.
      • Player 1 or the human player goes first, followed by the computer player.
      • The ball should bounce from one end of the court to another.
      • Repeat until one player fails to return.
    • Scoring
      • You earn a point each time your opponent fails to return the ball, and vice versa.
      • Your opponent earns a point if the ball goes out of bounds.
      • Similar to real-life tennis, each match is divided into 3 sets.
        • To win a set, you must earn 6 points.
        • Win 2 sets to win the match.
  • Power ups
    • Power ups appear in bubbles over the net.
      • They bobble up and down.
      • To collect them, the player must have the ball pass over them when serving or returning.
    • Power ups can have positive or negative effects on the player who gains them
      • Mushroom power up: Makes the player grow.
      • Pacifier power up: Makes the player shrink.
      • Ice power up: Freezes the player temporarily (for about 2 rounds).
      • Snail power up: Slows the player down.
      • Lighting power up: Speeds up the player.
      • Ball with fire: Hit with more power.
  • Match types
    • Campaign
      • This is a series of single-player matches with computer players.
    • Single player
      • This is a single 3-round match between you and a computer player.
    • Multiplayer
      • This mode is exclusively available for desktop players.
      • Here, you and a friend can challenge one another.
      • This version of the game has distinct controls for each player.
  • Tips
    • Here are a number of easy ways to score points:
      • Serve short with high arc, so the ball bounces over your opponent as they come up to the ball & they can’t get to the back of the screen in time to hit it before the second bounce.
      • If your opponent is favoring playing deep, hit a short shot with high arc, so the ball bounces over your opponent as they come up to the ball & they can’t get to the back of the screen in time to hit it before the second bounce.
      • If your opponent is playing close to the net hit deep.
      • If your opponent is frozen hit it where they are not.
      • If you get the fireball upgrade be sure not to hit it too long, but alternate making your opponent run long and short & they will probably either miss a shot or hit the ball long out of bounds.
