How to Play

Adjust the tilt of the game to control the direction the ball rolls and its movement speed. Keep the ball on or near the course & avoid spikes while collecting as many stars as you can, then safely make your way to the portal exit.

Starting the Game
- Tap the play button in the bottom center of the loading screen to bring up the welcome screen.
- Tap the play button in the lower center of the welcome screen to bring up the level select screen.
  - Levels are unlocked sequentially.
  - Your web browser automatically saves your game progress including completed levels and best level ratings.
- The upper right corner on the welcome screen has a sound control button.
- The lower left has a game developer information button while the lower right has a more games button.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - Press the left arrow key to rotate the screen counterclockwise.
  - Press the right arrow key to rotate the screen clockwise.
- Touchscreen devices
  - Use the on-screen controls.
- Controls & indicators
  - Your current level score is shown in the upper left corner.
  - The level number is shown top center.
  - The upper right corner has a back button and a button for sound control.
  - The level select screen shows which levels you have unlocked, your best star rating on each level, and how many total stars you collected.
Game Play
- Basics
  - In this platformer you spin the angle of the playing field to control the angle of gravity, causing the ball to roll left, roll right, or fly off platform.
  - Avoid running into any of the fixed spikes or moving spiked balls.
  - Collect up to 3 stars on each stage & then pass through the portal exit.
- Levels
  - This game has 18 levels which are unlocked sequentially.
    - You can go back and replay previously beat levels at any time.
  - Winning vs losing
    - You beat a level by safely passing through the exit portal.
    - You lose a level if you run into any fixed or moving red obstacle.
    - This game offers unlimited continues, restarting you at the beginning of any level you lost.
  - Star ratings
    - Each star you pick up is worth one of the star ratings.
    - If you do not pick up all 3 stars on a level you can go back and replay it to try to earn a higher star rating.
    - When you replay a level you must collect all 3 stars on that playthrough to earn a 3-star rating.
  - Scoring
    - Each star is worth 250 points.
    - You can earn up to 2,000 points in time score based on how quickly you beat a level, with each second of play costing you a point.
    - The overall game score is shown on the game overview screen.
    - If you improve any of your level scores on a replay that will reflect in your game overview score.
    - If you score worse on a replay it will not impact your game score.
    - The game has a theoretical maximum score of 49,500, based on 36,000 in time-based score and 13,500 in star-based scoring.
      - It is challenging to score much above 49,200 as each incremental second gain gets harder.
- Tips
  - Star ratings
    - If you beat a level without collecting all the stars on it play through to the end of the game and come back to replay earlier levels & collect the missed stars.
    - Later levels are harder, so it will be easier to collect any missing stars on early levels after you have beat the later levels.
  - Boundaries
    - Each level has a different boundary to it.
    - In general you do not want to go more than a few squares beyond the edge of a platform or obstacle, but you can intentionally die on a level to measure how far away the boundary is.
  - Paths
    - Levels are not timed, so it can make sense to go slow initially until you figure your way around the level.
    - Design your movement paths to minimize the number of times you need to cross obstacles.
    - In many cases reaching different stars requires using a lot of the same path, but different speed & dismount angles. Don’t be afraid to go backward to where you came from to rebuild momentum.
  - Speed
    - When moving near fixed obstacles you generally want to move at a low speed and then tilt the course away from them, or take the long way around them.
    - When moving past moving obstacles it typically makes sense to fall past them faster so that you minimize the amount of time you are exposed to their path.
    - After you have already beat all levels & collected all stars you can go back and play recklessly fast to try to maximize your game score.
