How to Play

Toss maces at your opponents to earn points. Be the first player to earn 10 points to win the match.

• Starting the Game
  • At the center of the welcome screen are player portraits.
    • Player 2 is always active. You can only switch them between a human or computer player.
    • Players 3 and 4 can be deactivated and be set to human or computer players. By default, they are deactivated.
    • Select the namespace below their avatars to change their status.
  • On the bottom row of the welcome screen are the following controls:
    • Select the speaker button on the left to turn the game’s sound effects on or off.
    • Select the play button to start the game.
    • Select the music button to turn the game’s music on or off.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • With your keyboard, press the following keys to shoot the mace:
      • W key as Player 1
      • J key as Player 2
      • Up arrow as Player 3
    • With your mouse, left click to shoot the mace as Player 4.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • With your fingers, tap on the following screen corners to shoot the mace:
      • Top right corner for Player 1
      • Top left corner for Player 2
      • Bottom right corner for Player 3
      • Bottom left corner for Player 4
  • Controls and indicators (left to right)
    • Game screen:
      • Top row:
        • Player 1 icon, meter, and score
        • Pause button
        • Player 2 icon, meter, and score
      • Bottom row:
        • Player 3 icon, meter, and score
        • Player 4 icon, meter, and score
    • Pause screen (center):
      • Home button: Quits the game and returns you to the welcome screen
      • Reset button: Restarts the session
      • Music button
      • Speaker button
      • Play button: Resumes the game
• Game Play
  • Basic rules
    • You take control of a knight in armor spinning a mace around in a circular motion.
    • Throw the mace at the right time to try and hit the opposing knights.
      • Press, click, or tap at the right time to have the mace face the correct direction.
      • Hold down your selection to charge your shot.
      • Release to throw the mace.
    • Each time the other knights are hit by a mace, they move away. Adjust your aim accordingly.
    • Keep hitting the other knights until you win.
    • After the match ends, the game immediately starts a new match.
  • Scoring
    • Each time you hit an opponent, you earn 1 point.
    • You do not lose points if you get hit.
    • Be the first to score 10 points to win the match.
• Target Audience
  • The game is suited for players who like simple fighting games.
  • The game has no adult themed content.

Maces, Morningstars, and Flails, Oh My

A mace is a general term for a bludgeoning medieval weapon, usually with a heavy top end to knock your enemy senseless. The type of mace featured in our game is the most famous one, the morningstar, which is a type of mace whose weighted end is a ball with spikes. A flail can have a similar end but is attached to a chain. Flails are meant to be swung around.
