    - Avoid various hazards like rocks and bombs & bear traps. If they hit either the policeman or the thief, it’s game over.
  - As you remove planks, things standing above it start to collapse.

  - Hazards
    - While you can not move hazards directly, you can grab pieces of wood and use them to fling the hazards away.
    - If hazards are isolated grab a piece of wood near the top and use it to hit the hazard away.
    - If many hazards are near the top of the puzzle and there is no police officer or thief up there you can grab and fling a large plank with all the hazards on it to remove many at once.
  - Grabbing
    - When you grab pieces they can spin arbitrarily at an angle, or retain an ongoing rotation.
      - If that happens sometimes you can set them right back down and grab them again, whereas other times such a move guarantees a loss.
    - Sometimes when you grab items they quickly release, though sometimes they do not.
      - When they do not release but you thought you did what happens is you’ll smash up the scene by dragging the piece around it quickly.
      - Unless you need to make a subsequent fast play it can make sense to hold the mouse cursor wide out of screen and high for a period after each major move.
  - Difficulty
    - Be forewarned this game gets ridiculously difficult in the last 5 stages.
    - As a taste for how absurdly hard it gets, imagine:
      - a bomb next to the police officer on the top row
      - a bomb near the thief on the bottom row
      - a middle floor with 2 bear traps
      - parts of the walls adjacent to the first and second floors are round rocks that can roll as you impact the physics of items above or below

    - Others hide behind hostages. You must free the hostages before you can take these bad guys out.
- Freeing the hostages
  - Hostages are bound and gagged. Shoot at the 3 restraints to free them.
  - Don’t miss; you might hurt the hostages.
  - Freeing hostages lets you take out the bad guys hiding behind them.
- Lives
  - You have 3 lives and a limited number of health.
    - When your health bar is completely depleted, you lose a life.
    - The game ends when you lose all your lives.
  - You can use med packs to heal yourself.
    - Med packs appear somewhere in the room. Watch out for them.
    - Shoot them to use them.
- Ranking
  - You are assigned a ranking each time you finish the game.
    - The lowest 3 ranks are called “Agent.”
    - The next highest rank is called “Capable Officer.”
    - The highest rank, of course, is “Hero.”
  - Your rank is based on the following:

How to Play

Use the direction keys on your keyboard to move your car around and collect coins without running into police cars.

Playing the Game
- Buttons on the left side of the screen allow you to turn sounds on or off and switch the portrait game to full screen mode.
- Pressing the P button allows you to pause the game.
- Click the direction keys on your keyboard to change the direction of your vehicle at intersections.
- Each game consists of 3 lives. If you die even once then you have to clear all coins from that level again (you don’t start with half the board cleared or such).
Scoring

- Save power pellets until the board is mostly cleared and use them on the hardest parts of the level.
  - When you run over cop cars as a steamroller you get 500 points per cop car, but the cop cars regenerate quickly at the police station.
  - Your steamroller blinks for a couple seconds before turning back into the regular car.
- To clear a level you must collect all coins and power pellets.

    - Most cops have a fairly consistent speed they move at across a straight horizontal or vertical line, going back and forth bouncing from near the edges of the screen.
    - Since the playing field is wider than tall its easier to accidentally get hit by a vertically moving police officer than a horizontally moving one.
    - Red cops periodically move at a faster pace.
  - Collect the plus tokens to earn points.
    - Each time you collect a token, another cop appears. Sometimes cops appear almost right on top of you, so ensure you have multiple paths out in case you need to make an immediate evasive move.
    - Collecting a token also fills up a part of the bar on the top center.
    - Fill up the bar on the top center completely to gain the ability to consume an enemy.
  - Keep dodging the cops and collecting tokens

How to Play

Set the angle of your shot & time your swing perfectly. Aim for the stars! Literally!

Digging Up Pieces
- The game has 6 districts: downtown, borough, suburbia, middletown, uptown, and metropolis.
  - Each district of the town has 5 different building types.
  - Each district has its own unique sets of LEGO pieces.
  - Even after you complete the first district you will still go back to it sometimes to dig up the pieces needed to lay police stations and fire departments in other districts.
- Each building requires a certain number of LEGO pieces to build.
- You can spend earnings to buy a dig, where you click on LEGO pieces in a 5 by 5 grid to display what is hidden underneath them.
  - Initially you are given 15 dig points. If you do not find all the pieces you can buy an extra 5 digs.
    - As you dig more times in an area the cost of an additional new complete dig increases geometrically, so it is almost always worth paying for the extra 5 digs after you get out of the first area of the town.
  - I like to dig the spots diagonally inward from the corners to start, as that helps you break up the field & spot many LEGO pieces quickly while spending a maximum of 4 of your 15 digs.
    - As soon as I find a piece using that I try to uncover the rest of that piece to help me learn the layout of the rest of the board.
  - Initially the piece types in a section are hidden, but after you uncover them in one dig it will show what pieces are hidden in future digs.
    - You can use the layout of the piece to help you guess where the rest of it is. Things like the rounded flip part of a piece, a flat surface, or a curve (along with the general piece shape) help you quickly figure where the rest of the piece might be.
    - In the last 2 divisions there are many 1×1 pieces which are difficult to find & finding them is luck of the draw since you can’t find a part of them & then use that to find the rest of it.
      - Even if you add the 5 bonus digs to the initial 15 that means 20 digs out of 25, so you’ll end up missing the 1×1 pieces around 20% of the time if they are randomly distributed.
      - I do not think the 1×1 are randomly distributed though. I do the 9 inner squares and then the left wall and across the top while leaving the bottom and right & that gets the 1×1 pieces most of the time. By the time I had Uptown filled out I had over 20 extra 1×1 pieces from the above method working so well at finding them.
Game Strategy
- Early game pace
  - Initially the buildings earn little money each but rapidly generate small amounts of earnings.
    - The pacing in the first district is almost perfect so you always have something to do.
    - The first half of the second district is also great on pacing.
    - After that the game slows down dramatically.
    - As you play the game and get into the fourth, fifth, or sixth zone the buildings earn far more, but the time it takes for them to generate a payout increases geometrically. Rather than generating LEGO studs every 15 seconds some generate a larger quantity but at a far slower pace like every 20 minutes.
  - Dig cost
    - Initially a dig costs 300 in downtown, 500 in borough, 1,000 in suburbia, 2,000 in middletown, 5,000 in uptown and 10,000 in metropolis.
    - Dig costs grow geometrically for each subsequent dig in that district.
    - Downtown has a maximum dig cost of 5,300 while other districts can run into hundreds of thousands of LEGO studs per dig.
- Later game pace
  - The game does not have a lot of action between digs and collecting the building LEGO stud earnings. The buildings reliably generate LEGO earnings and there are periodic crimes and fires.
  - For this reason, in some cases it can be fine to leave this game running in the background generating income.
    - The additional income you generate does not got to your purse until you click on the building or you click the collect all earnings coin in the lower left corner. This means the risk of loss from crime is quite low if you let the game play while you are away.
    - The risk of fire is more significant than the risk of crime, but even if you ignore a fire it is only that building which burns down and the fire does not spread throughout the city. Most the fires I saw were in the first 3 districts.
- Crimes & fires
  - When there is a crime or a fire there is often an indicator in one of the corners you can click on to take you to the building where the event is happening. You then click quickly on the building repeatedly to try to fill up the green police or water circle before the red crime or fire circle is empty.
  - It is important to put out the fires quickly or else the building will burn down and you will need to replace it to keep the zone at 25 out of 25.
  - When a crime happens those losses are pulled from your purse.
  - When you stop a crime or put out a fire you are given a cash reward. These rewards are based upon the earnings potential of the associated building.
  - At the bottom of the screen Mayor Solomon Fleck, Lieutenant Duke Detain and Fire Chief Freya McCloud offer advice.
  - If you have played the game to the point where it is mostly in grind mode to earn money & wait between turns you can let the game play automatically in another web browser while doing something in another tab.
    - If you have dual monitors you can zoom out on the screen so that it will zoom in when there is a fire.
    - For me it seemed most of the fires happened in the first 3 zones, where digging is cheap compared to the last 3 zones. While finishing the fourth, fifth and six zones I noticed quite a few crimes I had to respond to in those later districts, but only 1 arcade fire in the last 2 districts over days of the game playing.
Building Strategy
- Each district has 5 building types which are unique to it. Buildings are shown in the table below.
  - Outside of the police station and fire station which protect people all other buildings have the same effective end goal of earning coins which can be spent to dig up more LEGO pieces.
    - Buildings which pay out more coins but pay out slower are better than buildings which pay out small sums quickly. Rewards are not collected until you click to collect them & if you let the game play while you are away the building which builds more coins will
  - Buildings require different LEGO pieces to build, earn different amounts of coin, and take different amounts of time to earn coin the coin reward.
    - Off the start in the first district it makes sense to lay whatever buildings you can to unlock the second district.
    - When you later go back and dig more squares in the first district to gather pieces to build police and fire stations in the other districts you can tear down some of the donut shops and replace them with game shops or downtown house to earn a bit more.
- You can (and should) lay at least one police office and fire station in each district for a few different reasons.
  - It helps you respond more quickly to crimes and fires.
  - It uses up some of the 25 squares.
  - The pieces used to build police offices and fire departments are in the first zone (Downtown) & it has a maximum dig price of 5,300 no matter how many times you dig. The second zone has a limit of 9,500. The third zone goes above 80,000 though I am not sure if it has a hard limit. Other zones beyond it can cost hundreds of thousands per dig by the time they are halfway full. On the final zone I only built 2 buildings by the time the dig cost was 430,000 per dig.
  - If you are tired of waiting on digs in other zones that cost hundreds of thousands and you have say 22 or 23 of 25 lots filled you can put a second or third police office or fire station in that district to complete it and unlock the next district.
    - In the screenshots below I show where I put over 10 police stations in Middletown to unlock Uptown.
    - If you use this strategy to unlock other districts you can later remove redundant police stations & fire departments and place other buildings there.
    - Be forewarned when you remove buildings you do not get the LEGO pieces or anything back. The space goes clear and you get nothing other than a clear space.
- Playing through this game is not dependent on having the most diverse and reasonable city design.
  - At the end of the day all the buildings generate LEGO stud earnings which are used to fund digs to find more LEGO pieces to build more buildings.
  - If for whatever reason building sushi restaurants helps you use up a piece you have a lot of while filling out empty squares then there is no harm in building 8 or 10 of them. One of the pieces which is used in making a sushi restaurant is used 4 times to build an ice cream shop, so it may make sense to avoid building too many ice cream shops.
- The grind
  - The last 3 districts of the game take a long time to beat & fill (without using the cheesy building of a half dozen police departments & fire stations).
    - The highest earning building earns 60,000 and that can take over half an hour.
    - Some buildings can end up taking 3 or 4 digs to gather enough pieces to build.
    - By the time I filled in Middletown fully with regular buildings (other than 1 police department & fire station) the cost per dig was up to 416,000.
    - My cost per dig was up to 885,000 in Uptown by the time it was fully filled in.
    - I am letting the game run in the background while doing other things but I anticipate the cost per dig in Metropolis will probably be over 3 million by the time I get that filled out. After building 9 of the district buildings along with a police station & a fire department (14 left) it was already up to 1,270,000 per dig (and I think it increases 80,000 per subsequent dig).
      - A typical dig contains 2 or 3 pieces.
      - Buildings in the final section take 5, 6, 4, 5, and 8 pieces respectively, meaning each building will cost millions to build & the final building could even be over ten million.
      - With 15 spaces left if I leave the game play in the background for a while I can earn around a million on each major hourly refresh, suggesting the last 15 buildings would take about 100 more refreshes.

How to Play

- Basics
  - This is a room escape platforming game where you must help the prisoner break out of jail.
  - Avoid hazards, collect the key to unlock the door, and pass through the open door.
  - Each stage has roughly the same layout design, but various things change from level to level including zoom, visibility, hazard types, key location, and how you move around the stage.
- Levels
  - This game has 48 stages which are unlocked sequentially.
    - You can’t go back and replay previously beat levels without starting the game over and erasing your game progress.
  - Winning vs losing
    - You lose a level if you run into spikes, ghosts, lava, fire, or other hazards you need to avoid.
    - You beat a level by safely passing through the exit.
      - Most levels require you to grab a key before exiting.
      - A few stages put the exit in a different place than it is on most stages.
      - This game offers unlimited continues, starting you at the beginning of any failed level.
      - You can also restart the level without dying by using the restart button in the upper right corner.
- Level Guides
  - 1 Take the key and open the door. Grab the key and pass through the door on the right.
  - 2 Now there are 3 of them. Grab all 3 keys and head through the door on the right.
  - 3 Tap on the key. Use your mouse to select the key to open the door, then exit right.
  - 4 Try hard. Go like you are trying to collect the key, walk away from the key, then come back to the key once more to collect it. After doing that you can pass through the door on the right.
  - 5 Drag him to the door. Use your mouse left click button to select the key and drag it to the door. Then walk through the door normally with your character.
  - 6 Low gravity. Jump high onto the top left platform and gradually fall while moving right. Slowly fall to the middle platform then the lower right platform and pass through the unlocked door.
  - 7 Pick the key. Grab the key in the lower right to unlock the door and then pass through it.
  - 8 Don’t take the key. Jump over the keys as needed to avoid them. Touching any key closes the door. When jumping over the first key you have to only tap the jump button briefly or you will run into the spikes above.
  - 9 Hurry up. The door automatically closes if you move too slowly, so quickly take the typically route across the level and pass through the open door before it closes. If the door closes you’ll need to restart the level or run into spikes to try again.
  - 10 No key. Take the typical path through the exit. The door opens as you run into it.
  - 11 Key is invisible. Take the normal route through the level to the exit door, then turn back left and slowly walk towards the spikes on the bottom until you run into the key, then go back right through the exit.
  - 12 Just go. Take the typical path through the exit. No key is needed.
  - 13 Darkness. Take the typical path through the exit. The key is on the lower right platform.
  - 14 Lie down, rest. Run into spikes to die. On your next play the exit door will automatically be open.
  - 15 What’s wrong with this game. The left arrow moves right. The move right button jumps. The up arrow moves left. Other than the button weirdness take the typical path through the level, picking up the key on the lower right path along your way.
  - 16 Patience sir. Grab the key and then walk around the level for a while until the exit door opens up 15 or 20 seconds later. Exit as you normally would.
  - 17 Lift the door. With your mouse select the door and slide it up, then take the typical route through the room.
  - 18 Catch me if you can. Each time you collect the key it moves to another location until you have collected it 6 times. At that point you can pass through the exit door.
  - 19 Try this. The platforms exist in their typical spots, but are invisible. You can either take the typical route through the level and use your mouse to select and move the door, or jump onto the top right door to collect the key to open the door & then pass through the exit.
  - 20 Power of thought. Use your mouse to grab the platform and drag it near the prisoner. Jump on the platform & then drag the platform across so the prisoner runs into the key and then can walk off the platform right through the exit door.
  - 21 ????. Use your mouse left click button to grab the prisoner. Carry him over the lava, run him into the key, and then drop him off at the open exit door, which he can then walk through using the right arrow key.
  - 22 Try survivre. The lava instantly moves up on this level and then cycles back and forth between up and down. Quicky make your way to the middle platform and then jump back up and left to collect the key. After collecting the key time your movement back right so that you are touching the middle platform right as the lava falls past it, then keep running right & jump onto the upper right platform. When the timing is right fall right off the platform and exit through the door.
  - 23 Ghost!!! Move right until you are just before the bottom spikes to put the ghost’s path off course. As he approaches move back left, jump onto the first platform, then run right to jump onto the middle platform & the upper right platform. Fall right to the level exit door.
  - 24 Approximation. This level has the camera zoomed in too far to where it is hard to see. Take your typical route through the level, except you have to jump onto the top right platform rather than falling onto the lower right platform, as the top platform has the key. Grab the key and pass through the exit door.
  - 25 More ghosts. Jump onto the first platform & the second platform, then jump back left. As the ghosts get near you fall left and then jet right across the level, collecting the key from the top right platform before exiting through the door.
  - 26 With the speed of thought. You move horizontally quickly in this game, thus you should only briefly tap the arrow keys to prevent overshooting your moves.
  - 27 Only forward. You automatically run right on this level. Take your typical path by timing the jumps onto the first platform & middle platform, then fall off the middle platform to the lower right to collect the key and pass through the gates.
  - 28 Invisible man. You go from visible to invisible rather quickly at the start of the level. Move quickly right to go as far as you can while you can still be seen. Grab the key from the top right and fall right to pass through the level exit.
  - 29 Where’s my glasses. On this level your character sees the key as being on the upper right platform, but the actual key location is on the upper left platform. Grab the key and then fall while walking right to the middle platform, the lower right platform, and keep walking through to the exit.
  - 30 Beware of ceiling. The ceiling quickly falls all the way to the floor, while having spikes on it. Run right as fast as you can and take the typical path through this level. You must exit before the ceiling spikes get to the door.
  - 31 The fire burns. This stage has a fire on each platform which you must avoid. The jump on the first platform here requires a brief tap, just like on level 8.
  - 32 Fllea. You are tiny on this level, but have your regular jump and movement speed. Move right across the stage, grabbing the key from the upper right, and then pass through to the finish. Since you are so tiny you have to jump up to collect the key.
  - 33 Ninja. You become invisible each time you move, so it helps to make brief movements so you can track where you are as you cross the stage. Collect the key from the upper right and fall down right to pass through the open exit door.
  - 34 Upside down. You still use the up arrow key to jump, but the move left and move right keys are backward. Jump up onto the first platform & middle platform, then walk left towards the exit.
  - 35 More thorns. This level has thorns requiring the same sort of tricky jump on the first platform as levels 8 & 31, and a similar jump on the upper right platform while avoiding spikes on the floor and ceiling. Collect the key, fall right, and pass through the exit door.
  - 36 Rains thorns. Thorns fall from the ceiling on through the floor in various positions. The level does not have any thorns on the platforms though, so as long as you can avoid the falling thorns raining down you should be able to run quickly to the exit.
  - 37 The key to you. You play as the key. Bring the key across the screen like you would your character, have the key run into the prisoner to open the door, and then fall right off the platform and exit through the door.
  - 38 Crusher. On this level the prisoner is a meathead. You must intentionally run into and break all the spikes to open the door, then pass through the level exit.
  - 39 Drag it. Use your mouse to select the ghost, then drag the enlarged ghost left and up out of your way. Grab the key from the top right platform and fall right to exit.
  - 40 Knock, Knock. Left click on the door twice to open it, then pass across the level through the exit.
  - 41 Everybody lies. Avoid collecting any of the keys & instead intentionally run into the spikes on the middle of the middle platform. This level requires a tricky jump like on levels 8, 31, and 35. After collecting the spikes (which act like a key) fall right to the ground and use the ground level to walk right through the exit door.
  - 42 Wait the key. This level has a ghost on it which you must avoid using similar strategies to levels 23 & 25. After about 20 seconds of evading the ghost a key appears on the upper left platform. Collect the key and safely pass through the exit.
  - 43 Secret way. Collecting the key opens the door, but you can’t exit through the door. Instead jump left from the left edge of the upper left platform to walk through the wall and exit left.
  - 44 Back. Press left to walk right out the entrance you came through.
  - 45 Freeze. Pause the level and then unpause to open the door. Move right on through to the level exit.
  - 46 You only have 2 jumps. On this stage you die if you jump a third time, so you must jump onto the first platform & onto the middle platform then fall while moving right throughout the remainder of the level. You can’t collect the key on the top right platform. Instead you must select the door with your mouse left click and drag it out of the way.
  - 47 Avoid resorting to physical force. Try walking through the door, back away from it and walk around the level for a while, and then try to go through the door again and it will open.
  - 48 Back to menu. Pause the game and go to the welcome screen from the menu, then from the game menu select continue. On your second play of the level the exit door is automatically open.
- Tips
  - Jumping
    - You jump onto the first platform without much worry of hitting the spikes, but when you jump off it onto the middle platform you have to jump just before you are about to fall off.
    - When the first platform has obstacles on it you have to only briefly tap the jump button to avoid running into spikes above you.
  - Falling vs jumping
    - From the upper left platform you can keep walking right at an ordinary pace to fall onto the middle platform.
    - From the middle platform you can keep walking right at an ordinary pace to fall onto the lower right platform.
    - When you are atop the upper right platform you should fall off right & go down and around to go left. If you try to jump left you will hit your head on spikes.
Target Audience
- The game is suited for players who like simple escape platformer games.
  - Players who like this game will also like One Stage, a game that inspired the creation of this one.

  - You have 60 seconds to capture the convict. The timer is shown on the top center of the screen.
  - Move up the levels and climb up to capture the escaped convict.
  - The convict will run erratically around the level, but will usually try to ascend to get away from you.
  - Once you make contact with the convict, you’ve won the level.
- Lives and hazards
  - Dodging hazards
    - You only have one defense against hazards and that is by jumping over them.
    - If you touch any of the hazards, you lose a life.
  - Lives
    - You have 3 lives in this game. Lose all 3 and you fail the level.
    - Your lives are shown on the top left corner of the screen.
  - Moving enemies
    - Moving enemies just keep on coming. These include viruses and shopping carts.
    - To avoid them, you must often jump while you’re still a considerable distance away, depending on how far they are
  - Bonfires
    - Bonfires are stationary hazards. They do not approach you.
- Collecting cash
  - Win extra points by picking up the sacks of cash that the escaping convicts leave behind.
  - Each bag of money is worth 1,000 extra points.
  - The points you make carry over with each level.

  - Stay as accurate as you can both to improve your end-game stats and to avoid wasting bullets.
  - Shoot quickly as the burglars appear. They can attack and quickly disappear.
  - Watch out for burglars in tiny windows and the roof.
