How to Play

Rotate the camera to aim the cue and knock your balls into the pockets.

Game Basics
- Select if you want to play against a second player on your computer or a robot.
- Click on the screen to choose which ball you are aiming the cue at and adjust your shot angle.
- Click near the cue and pull back to set your cue strength (as shown on the left side) and release.
  - Be sure your shot angle did not shift while pulling the cue back, or readjust it if it did.
- This game offers dashed white and green guidelines which will show where the cue ball will go on its path across the table until it strikes the second ball and the angle where the second ball will go.
  - The guide paths can be good for helping to teach kids physics.
  - Unfortunately the guide paths only show how the first ball will respond to being struck by the cue and do not show how they would impact a second or third ball.
8 Ball
- One player will be solids and the other player will be stripes.
- Whoever makes the first ball in gets to be that ball type while the other player is the other ball type.
- Players try to get all their balls into the side or corner pockets, then finish with the 8 ball after all the other solids or stripes are in the pockets.
- Typically if the cue ball follows the 8 ball into a pocket that is considered a scratch and the player loses, though this game ends as soon as the 8 ball goes in the pocket.

Starting the Game

Opening Screen Buttons
- On the top right corner of the screen is audio button. Select it to toggle the game’s music and sound effects “on” or “off.”
- On the bottom left corner of the screen there are 2 social media share buttons:
  - 1st one is a sharable link for a Facebook post to tell your friends about the game.
  - 2nd one is a sharable link for a Twitter post to tell your friends about the game.
- On the bottom right corner of the screen is the “More Games” button. This redirects you to view more games in the site.
Game Controls
- The idea is to eliminate the correct gray circles in a level to move colored balls into the target color position. This is done by tapping or clicking on the circle to roll the colored balls.
- Mouse
  - Using your mouse cursor, figure out which gray circles to remove. Left click on a circle and it instantly removes the circle under the colored ball. This causes the colored ball to roll or bounce in a certain direction.
  - Think of which gray circles to remove to roll the colored balls toward the target position.
  - The position of the gray circle and the timing in which you remove it influences how the colored ball rolls.
  - Note that the game does not use keyboard buttons to play the game.
- Touchscreen
  - Using your finger, simply tap a gray circle to remove it under a plank. This causes the colored ball to roll or bounce in a certain direction.
  - Figure out which circles to remove in order to roll the colored ball toward the target position.
  - The position of the gray circle and the timing in which you remove it influences how the colored ball rolls.
- Levels have more than one colored ball you must navigate towards a target position. Higher levels have more colored balls and complex arrangements.
Other In-Game Options
- On the topmost center of the screen are 2 indicators:
  - The “Try” counter shows how many tries you’ve already done on the current level. A try is counted if you were unable to solve the puzzle and restarted a level. Tries will reset after each level.
- The “Level” indicator is just below the try counter. This shows the current level you’re playing.
- On the upper right corner of the screen are 2 buttons
- The 1st one is the reset level button.
  - After failed tries, the level wouldn’t reset normally.
  - You must manually click on the reset button to try the level again.
  - Tries will add 1 counter every time you click the reset button.
- The 2nd button is the level select button.
  - Click it to redirect you to the level select screen.
Level Complete Screen Display
- Once you’ve completed the level, you will be redirected to the Level Complete Screen.
  - There will be 2 available buttons on the middle of the screen.
    - The “Home” button will take you to the main menu screen.
    - The “Next level” button will take you to the next level.
  - After each level, there will be a tip at the bottom of the screen that can help with the next level.
  - In-game user interface options are also available on the level complete screen.
Strategy
- This is a modern minimalist physics puzzle game where you figure out how to guide the ball onto the indicated colored location without having to touch it directly.
- Use tips gained from the previous level complete screen to solve the next one.
- As you progress, expect to navigate more colored balls towards different target positions in higher levels. Higher levels also have planks that rotate and surfaces with spikes.
  - Only gray circle objects can be removed.
  - Long solid colored platforms will just move when you remove the gray circles.
  - Long diagonally patterned platforms cannot move entirely.
- The level gets harder and trickier as you progress later in the game.
  - Plan your moves and time it perfectly to get the desired result. There are times you must tap or click the gray circle fast enough to time the balls movement with another ball or object.
  - The game gets more challenging as the level gets higher. Expect to do several trials and errors before you can solve a level.
- You can retry a level for an unlimited number of times. You will see how many tries it took you to solve a level in the Try counter. There is no time limit so you are encouraged to take your time figuring out the right moves.
- This game requires patience, critical thinking, and tests your creative problem solving skills. So be patient with each level.

Strategy
- Start off with as much power as you can muster.
  - This is the your main means of control. The bubbles do much of the score for you by falling down.
  - While maximum power won’t guarantee that you will fall down far, it is a good running start.
- As you gain characters, split the bubble as early as possible.
  - A bubble full of characters gets heavy and will stop fast if you don’t pop it.
  - Having several characters plummeting at once increases your chances of beating your high score.
  - Characters with enough momentum can sometimes push stopped characters, putting them back into play.
- Use your characters’ powers as soon as they split off.
  - The game re-activates your powers as you gain more achievements.

  - Sometimes, it’s all about timing. Be patient yet move fast.
    - One of the three stars is for how quickly you beat the level.
    - A well-timed click at the right spot could be all you need to get the highest rating in a level.
    - If you get less than a three-star rating on a level and are frustrated by it consider playing subsequent levels & then coming back to it after completing the game.
- Level advice
  - There were a few levels I found a bit tricky on first play through.
    - On level 10 you have to land the cheese stuck under the spinning wood piece, have Alarmy fall to the left, bounce up, and then click the cheese to clear it out before Alarmy gets to it again.
    - On level 16 you need to use the cheese multiple times. First to roll across to grab the coffee cup, then to stop you so that you have less momentum when you roll onto the moving platform below.
    - On level 23 you must break the lower triangle glass on the left before breaking the triangle glass above it. Wait until you get Alarmy to land on the piece of cheese & then break the cheese so Alarmy can fall to a stop without getting electricuted.

How to Play

Break blocks to send Alarmy the alarm clock to wake the pink monster.

  - Wormholes come in pairs and appear as purple portal-shaped grids.
    - They form in opposite ends of the screen.
    - If a character falls into a wormhole, they fall on the opposite end.
    - Plan around wormholes so you can redirect characters toward the portals.
- Lives and falling
  - You start the game with 3 lives, visible on the top center of the screen.
  - Each time a character falls to the ground, you lose a life.
  - At the start of the game, you have a safety net that allows you to bounce the characters back up without losing lives.
    - This can only be used 3 times, upon which it disappears.
    - The safety net can help you avoid losing the game prematurely.
- Score
  - You get points for every character you drive into the portals.
  - You gain a combo bonus for driving 2 or more characters into portals at the same time.
- Unlocking characters
  - Use the money you’ve collected to unlock characters and locations in the game.
  - You can play a maximum of 12 characters in this game.
    - Gumball is unlocked immediately.
    - Anais is unlocked at the end of the tutorial level & you are given a gift of 25 coins as part of that level to pay to unlock her.

How to Play

Help Gumball and Darwin aim their shots to cool off friends in dire need of water.

Starting the Game
- Click the PLAY button at the bottom center of the screen to start the game. This will bring up the level select screen.
  - Initially only the first level is unlocked.
  - Beating a level unlocks the next.
  - You can go back and replay previously beat levels to try to score a higher rating on them.
- The welcome screen contains sound and music control buttons in the upper left corner and a credits button in the lower left corner.
- Your web browser automatically stores your beat levels and level ratings.
  - You can erase this data by clicking the trashcan icon in the sun on the level select screen, or you can start from scratch again by playing the game in a different web browser.
Game Controls
- Desktop
  - Use your mouse cursor to adjust the shot strength and angle of your shot.
    - A red tracing line shows the shot’s trajectory.
    - Left click on your mouse to shoot.
  - Hit the spacebar to switch from Gumball to Darwin.
    - Gumball shoots water.
    - Darwin shoots rocks.
- Mobile
  - This game is significantly harder on mobile than on desktop as aiming and shooting are a single move, your finger can get in the way of your vision, and the screen size is smaller so there is a larger margin of error.
  - You can tap and drag your finger to aim the shot and set it’s strength, then release to fire.
  - On desktop players use the space bar to switch between characters. On mobile you can tap in the character select area at the bottom of the screen to switch between characters.
- The game’s level select screen contains sound and music controls in the upper left corner.
- Inside of levels there are details shown along the bottom of the screen.
  - The item count states how many items you started with and how many remain for the currently selected character.
  - Next is the currently active character.
  - Then there are 4 settings buttons: restart level, go to level select screen, music control, sound control.
Gameplay
- Ratings
  - Your goal in this game is to hydrate all of Gumball’s friends using the fewest number of water shots possible.
  - As long as you do not run out of water until after all the friends are hydrated you can still beat the level even if you waste some water, but you won’t get three stars if some water items are wasted.
- Shooting
  - In general you want to use Gumball’s water shot exclusively to shoot water at your friends.
  - Darwin’s shot use is far more diverse: break ice, knock stones over, hit switches to open passageways or move platforms, etc.
- Aiming
  - For most shots the red guidelines are super helpful.
  - There are a few exceptions:
    - when you must throw things through a warp (you often want to do so with a lot of force)
    - when you bounce an item off a pillow or other bouncy wall (again, you typically have to shoot with greater force)
    - when you have to land water on a platform it helps to shoot with less arc so the water balloon does not pop when it lands
    - when you open up a platform carrying water be sure you are aware of the direction it typically falls so it can land on a friend
- Levels
  - You can unlock a levels even if you only score a single star.
  - When you beat a level be sure you click the “CONTINUE” button to unlock the subsequent level. If you retry the level for a higher score and can’t beat it again the subsequent level would not be unlocked.
- Dying
  - If you run out of water and some friends are still thirsty it is game over.
  - This game allows you to continue an unlimited number of times on any given level.
- Strategy
  - As you get closer to the end of the game levels become more complex.
  - If you are able to beat a level but are not able to get 3 stars on it you can finish other levels and then come back to it after you start the game.
  - It helps to break levels down into discrete concrete chunks.
    - Levels are not timed, so if you do not need to take a rushed shot do not.
    - On some levels where you have to throw a rock to hit a switch the gate may only stay open for a short period of time so then you have to quickly follow up with water.
