As you click the bars you are playing a whole tone scale. Most actual xylophones are tuned the the regular major scale. Between the 3rd and 4th bars from the left, our ears are expecting to hear a 1/2 step interval- but instead it is a whole step and continues in whole steps all the way to the top. This is not the usual tuning and therefore heard as “out of tune”. This instrument will not be able to play most simple tunes correctly because of the missing 1/2 steps.

As it’s one of those kid’s xylophones (a glockenspiel to be precise), don’t expect a lot of tonal variety. There aren’t a lot of songs you can play here. You can play simple children’s songs, but little else. Still, it’s a great way to introduce toddlers to music. Your young virtuosos would be moving on to other instruments soon enough.
