Thanksgiving Crossword Puzzle Game for Kids Game Play Instructions

How to Play

Select the letter tiles from the bottom of the puzzle to fill out the answers to the puzzle tips for each word.

• Starting the Game
  • Click the green and white button on the game loading screen.
  • Click the orange and white button on the game welcome screen.
    • Choose to play online or to create a printable Thanksgiving crossword puzzle.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Use your mouse left click button to select a square on the word you would like to spell.
    • Click on the letter tiles at the bottom of the screen to enter the word.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Touch the screen with your finger to select words to fill in and the letter tiles to fill them in.
  • Interface
    • The letter tiles appear below the puzzle.
    • The clue for the word appears above the letter tiles.
    • There is a hint button which reveals a letter in the lower left corner of the puzzle.
• Game Play
  • Entering Letters
    • The letter boxes you selected are highlighted in orange.
      • If a box appears in words heading in both direction you can pick the next open box heading in the direction you want to spell in order to select that direction.
      • When entering letters in words which overlap with other words you do not need to re-enter the letters which were already entered by spelling a word traveling orthogonally.
    • Selecting a letter square from the word you want to spell allows you to spell that word from left to right or top to bottom.
      • 14 letter tiles show at the bottom of the puzzle.
      • You must use click on or tap the letter tiles to enter them. You can’t use your keyboard.
      • If you enter an incorrect letter you can tap on that square to remove it & enter a new letter.
    • If you fill a word in incorrectly it will appear in red.
  • Scoring
    • If you get a word incorrect it does not cost you any points.
    • When you spell a word correctly it gives you a star point for each letter in the word.
    • Asking for a hint will reveal a letter from the word you have selected, but doing so will cost you 10 points.
    • A perfect score is spelling all words correctly without asking for a hint. The perfect score amount is how many letters are in all the words plus the 10 points you start the game with.
