How to Play

Earn soccer balls by rounding off numbers to the appropriate place value.

• Starting the Game
  • Select the play button to load the welcome screen.
  • On the welcome screen, select the go button below the game’s title to begin.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Use the numbers on the keyboard above the letter keys to place your answer.
    • Press the enter key to check your answer.
    • With your mouse, left click to lock the coordinates of your soccer strike.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Although this game might load in touchscreen devices, its controls were optimized for desktops with keyboards.
• Game Play
  • Level Selection
    • Choose between 3 difficulty levels, defined by the place values you must round.
      • Level 1: Round to the nearest tens and hundreds
      • Level 2 Round to the nearest tens, hundreds, and thousands.
      • Level 3: Round to the nearest tens, hundreds, thousands, and decimals.
    • Choose a player avatar from one of the 4 figures presented.
  • Main Game
    • Type in the number rounded to the nearest place value mentioned.
      • Numbers 5 and higher are rounded one place value higher.
        • e.g., 165 rounded to the nearest ten is 170.
      • Numbers 4 and below are rounded to the same place value.
        • e.g., 1,144 rounded to the nearest hundred is 1,100.
    • When answering decimals, remember that each decimal represents a fraction where the denominator is 10.
      • The first number after the decimal point is thus a tenth (x/10)
      • The second number after a decimal point is a hundredth (x/100), the third a thousandth (x/1000) and so on.
    • Answer as many questions correctly to earn 5 penalty soccer balls.
  • Striking Game
    • On the lower left side of the screen is a targeting system shaped like a cross.
      • The ball travels on both horizontal and vertical lines.
      • By stopping the ball at the red circle at the center, you guarantee that it reaches the goal
    • To strike, left click on the button below the targeting system at the right time.
    • Keep playing until you’ve used up all the balls you won.
  • Scoring
    • Each correct answer wins you 10 points.
      • Each wrong answer is worth -10 points.
    • Every shot you make is 10 points.
    • If you answer all the questions correctly and miss none of the shots, you can earn a maximum of 100 points in your first round.
      • You lose balls each time you answer incorrectly. If you answered all your questions correctly the first 4 times, and answered wrong on the last one, you gain 30 points and no balls.
      • You can repeat the process multiple times to earn a higher score 30 points at a time without ever proceeding to the striking game.
    • Your points are cumulative and carry over to the next round.
