How to Play

Form rows of 3 or more gems to clear them from the playing field. The more gems you clear, the higher your score.

• Starting the Game
  • Select the bubble-shaped play button at the center of the welcome screen to begin.
  • Below the play button are two buttons:
    • The roulette button to the left lets you win 1 of 3 power ups. It reactivates after 15 minutes.
    • On the right is the information button, which lets you learn about the game and its rules.
  • The sound button on the top left corner lets you toggle the game’s audio.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress and star ratings.

    • With your mouse:
      • Left click to select a jewel.
      • Drag to move it to where you want it to go.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • With your fingers:
      • Tap on a jewel to select it.
      • Swipe it toward where you want it to go.
• Game Play
  • Level selection
    • Levels are unlocked in sequence. At the start, only the first level is playable.
    • You can replay each of the levels you’ve unlocked to improve your high score..
  • Interface
    • The sound button is on the top left corner.
    • Top row:
      • The scoreboard is on the left.
      • Your remaining moves and time is on the right.
      • Below the counters is a meter that measures how close you are to a star rating.
    • Bottom row
      • At the bottom of the playing field are your power ups.
      • On the bottom left is the pause button.
  • Basic
    • Select a gem and move them to any spot where they can form a row of 3 identical gems.
      • Each time you these rows, you remove them from the playing field.
      • You can line up to 5 rows of gems by yourself. Longer rows can form automatically.
        • These gems merge into explosives. Use these explosives to your advantage.
      • If you move a gem where it can’t form a valid row, it goes back to where it was before.
    • Sometimes, several new rows will emerge after you cleared one row.
      • These do not use up your remaining turns.
      • Indeed, the game encourages you to remove as many rows in a single move.
    • The game automatically reshuffles the gems in the field for you if you run out of valid moves.
  • Scoring
    • You earn points every time you clear a valid row of gems.
    • To win a level, you often must reach a specific score.
      • In later levels, you must also meet other goals. The score alone won’t be enough to clear the level.
      • Meeting the minimum score will automatically grant you the 1-star rating.
    • Exceed the limits set in the meter above to reach the 2- and 3-star ratings.
  • Game modes
    • Standard
      • Meet the target score within a set number of moves.
      • The level ends once you’re out of moves.
      • If you have any explosives unused, they will explode. This is called a happy moment.
    • Timed
      • Use as many moves as you can to reach the target score before the timer runs out.
      • You only have 60 seconds to play.
      • The happy moment happens if you have any unused explosives at the end of the timer.
    • Blocks
      • Destroy all the blocks in the field within the given number of moves.
      • Form a row using any of the gems inside the blocks to remove them.
      • The happy moment happens if you clear all the blocks before you lose all your moves. This involves turning all your remaining moves into explosives.
    • Pouch
      • Bring a set number of pouches to the bottom of the playing field within a few moves.
      • Pouches cannot be removed and will not be affected by explosives.
      • Your remaining moves also become explosives if you meet the goal before using them all up.
  • Explosives
    • Explosives help you clear large numbers of gems. To receive them, clear more than 3 gems in a row.
      • An explosive forms from the gems you lined up. They coalesce to form the explosive at the spot you made your move.
      • It’s possible to gain several of them in a single turn and for them to form automatically as new rows form.
      • To activate them, treat them like gems. Line them up with a group of gems of their color to work.
      • Rainbow bombs only need to be paired with a single jewel to work
    • There are 3 kinds of explosives in this game.
      • Dynamite sticks
        • You earn these by removing 4 gems in a row.
        • They will remove an entire row of gems at once.
      • Bombs
        • You earn these after forming 2 overlapping rows that share a single gem. These appear in T or L shapes.
        • Once activated, these will remove gems within a 1-tile radius, plus any of the gems in the row they form.
        • These can remove up to 11 gems at a time.
      • Rainbow gem
        • You get these after clearing 5 or more gems in a row.
        • Switching a rainbow gem with any other gem or explosive removes all gems and explosives of that color in the field.
    • Happy moment
      • At the end of the level, all your remaining explosives detonate.
        • In standard or timed levels, this happens after you run out of time or turns.
        • In bag or block levels, happy moments happen only when you finish the level’s goal with moves to spare.
      • This can sometimes give you a huge cascading bonus as they can clear the screen rapidly, causing new rows of gems (and sometimes, more explosives) to appear without any effort on your part.
  • Power ups
    • Power ups provide you with different bonuses.
      • Moving potions provides you with a spare turn.
      • Pickaxes let you remove 1 gem from the field without forming a row.
      • Flash balls remove several gems at random.
    • There are 2 ways to earn power ups.
      • Roll the roulette wheel every 15 minutes.
      • Earn a 3-star rating on a level.
    • To activate a power up, select its icon on the bottom row.
  • Roulette
    • The roulette lets you gain one free power up every 15 minutes.
    • To roll, select the spin button at the center of the roulette.
• Target Audience
  • The game is suited for connect 3 in a row fans of all ages.
  • The game has no adult themed content.
