Each of the four heroes has their own gimmick, which gives plenty of variety to each of the levels. Like many good platformers, the levels reward exploration. Expect hidden passages and out-of-the-way collectibles while exploring the map. There are also extra challenge sublevels, indicated by a door. You must complete the challenge to rescue the citizen near the door.

The game is also quite generous with hit points and collectibles. Your enemies are easy to defeat outside of Hawkodile’s stages. Earn enough sparkle material and you can activate your special power. This will drive the sparkle material to your character without ever needing to touch it.

Each of the sublevels per stage are tailored to the strengths of a specific character. Unikitty levels, for instance, will have the player use her long jump more often. It’s a very long game and each stage lets you use all four playable characters.
