This is a simple 25-stage physics-based logic puzzle game themed after one of the most iconic Dr. Seuss characters. Help the Cat in the Hat make various items for a party by dropping items into his Invention Engine. This game starts off easy but grows more difficult after the first 5 or 6 puzzles.

How to Play

Get ingredients into Cat in the Hat’s Invention Engine to help him prepare for Fish’s party.

• Starting the Game
  • Select Play Levels to play the game in story mode.
  • To create your own machine puzzles, select Free Play below the Play Levels button.
  • A voiceover from Cat will explain how the game works.
    • Voiceover commentary from the characters act as a tutorial for much of the game.
  • Your Web browser automatically saves your progress and score.

  • Desktop
    • Left click your mouse to drag items to the appropriate places, then rotate them to the correct angle.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap and swipe items to position them.
• Game Play
  • Basics
    • Position various machine parts to direct falling objects into the desired location.
      • When playing puzzle levels, this is usually an intake pipe.
      • Some items work differently than others. Take this into account when putting them in the contraption.
        • An item’s range of motion may be constrained if they are blocked by something. Consider moving it slightly if you need an item to have a wider range of motion.
        • Some items allow you to change the color of the ingredients (and the final product).
        • A few items are fragile. Take steps to protect necessary items from other falling objects.
      • Rotate items by clicking the clockwise and counterclockwise buttons that appear when the items are selected.
        • You can only rotate items up to a specific point.
        • You can’t rotate items that are obstructed. Move it out of the way first.
    • When you’ve placed everything in the right position, select the lever on the bottom left corner of the screen.
    • If you don’t succeed, pull the lever again to start over.
  • Game modes
    • Levels
      • Play through 25 different levels.
        • Levels are sorted according to a specific recipe.
        • Voiceover in each of the levels reveals interesting facts on the ingredients.
        • Levels are unlocked in order. To unlock a level, you must clear the level before it.
          • Complete the recipe, and you add another item to Fish’s party.
          • At the level selection screen, there is a Go to Party button. This will show you all the items you’ve unlocked for the party.
        • Each time you play a new level, you unlock new items for Free Play mode.
      • Goals
        • Bring a specific material to the intake pipe.
        • A secondary objective involves collecting stars. To gain the best possible rating, collect all the stars while getting the ingredients to the intake pipe.
        • If you feel stumped, get a hint by selecting the question mark button on the top right of the screen.
        • You can replay each level after completing it except the last level of a recipe.
          • The cut scene will play, which shows the item you unlocked appearing in Fish’s party.
          • Replaying the last levels in a recipe will also replay the cut scene.
    • Free Play
      • Free Play Mode allows you to build a contraption of your own design.
      • You unlock new items to play with each time you unlock a new a level.
