How to Play

Help the gnome measure items. Express these measurements through fractions and decimals.

  • Starting the Game
    • On the welcome screen, select the play button on the snail below the game’s title to begin.
    • Pick between units and fractional increments before proceeding.
  • Game Controls
    • Desktop
      • With your mouse, left click to select and navigate.
    • Touchscreen devices
      • Tap the screen with your fingers and use them as a mouse.
  • Game Play
    • Interface
      • Strolling screen
        • On the upper left corner are two buttons:
          • The home button brings you back to the mode selection screen.
          • The sound button toggles the game’s music.
        • On the right is the progress bar, showing how far into his walk the gnome has traveled.
          • Choose any of the items on the screen to begin.
      • Measuring screen
        • The ruler measuring the item is shown either at the right center corner or the lower right corner of the screen, depending on whether it’s measuring height or length.
        • The calculator is located on the top right corner.
        • The check
    • Unit selection
      • Choose whether you’re measuring in metric or imperial units
        • Metric (centimeters):
          • Whole numbers
          • Halves
          • Tenths
        • Imperial (inches):
          • Whole numbers
          • Halves
          • Quarters
          • Eights
    • Basic
      • With your mouse or fingers, input the size of the object measured via the calculator.
        • To get the correct number, count the number of notches shown in the tape measure on the right side of the screen.
        • Select the check button if you’re finished with your answer.
      • Be as precise as you can when expressing the number.
        • When using fractions:
          • Use the space button to separate the whole number from the fraction
          • Separate the numerators and denominators of the fraction via a slash between the two.
        • When expressing decimals, place a decimal point before the whole number, then place the decimal.
          • Expressing halves in decimals is as simple as choosing five.
          • When playing on tenths, you can select any number other than 5.
          • You don’t need spaces when placing in decimal numbers.
  • Target Audience
    • The game is suited for children learning imperial or metric lengths and who like to learn through play.
    • The game has no adult content.
