How to Play

Discover the denizens of Reeftown Rock and build your own reef with the characters and items you found.

• Starting the Game
  • Select the play button at the center of the screen to begin.
  • The game is narrated. The in-game voiceover will serve as your tutorial.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Using your mouse, left click to select and navigate.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap the screen with your fingers and use them as a mouse.
• Game Play
  • Interface
    • Switch characters via the selection button on the upper right corner.
    • Go to Build-an-Ocean mode at the lower left corner.
      • In Build-an-Ocean mode, the wave button appears on the upper right corner. Use this to clear your ocean and start over.
    • The scrolling area on the bottom row shows all the animals and objects you’ve encountered and yet to encounter.
      • Things you’ve yet to find appear as magenta silhouettes and only appear in exploration mode.
      • In Build-an-Ocean mode, only items you’ve found appear in the
    • The home button on the upper left corner brings you back to the welcome screen.
  • Character Selection
    • Choose between the following characters
      • Splash: A yellowback fusilier (Caesio xanthonota)
      • Bubbles: A mandarin dragonet (Synchiropus splendidus)
      • Dunk: A white-spotted pufferfish (Torquigener albomaculosus)
      • Ripple: A seahorse (Hippocampus barbouri)
    • Characters have their own special abilities.
      • Splash can swim through whirlpools.
      • Ripple can pick out items from stone piles.
      • Dunk is strong enough to remove items from rubble.
      • Bubbles can dig faster than other characters.
  • Exploration
    • To move in any direction, do either the following:
      • Left click and hold with your mouse
      • Tap and hold with your fingers
    • Hold down your mouse or fingers to keep moving in a single direction.
    • To find items, select them.
      • Items you can find have a corresponding magenta silhouette on the bottom row.
      • Each time you find an item or character for the first time, a circular frame will appear on the screen with its image. The game’s audio will mention its name.
        • Select anywhere on the screen to close the circle frame.
      • Only items you found can be used in Build-an-Ocean mode.
  • Build an Ocean
    • Decorate and populate your own version of the reef by selecting the items you’ve already found.
    • To place an item in the ocean, select them from the horizontal list and drag them into place.
      • Named characters can only be placed in once.
      • A few items can be placed multiple times:
        • Stationary animals like corals and worms
        • Nameless fish
        • Decorative items like shark’s teeth, pearls, and coral fragments.
    • To remove all the items you’ve placed and start over, select the wave button on the upper right corner.
• Target Audience
  • The game is suited for people who like the ocean, colorful games, and/or hidden object games.
  • The game has no adult content.
