Elmo’s School Friends Game for Kids Game Play Instructions

How to Play

Help Elmo address his friend’s problems and play 3 different classroom minigames.

• Starting the Game
  • Select the green play button at the bottom right of the welcome screen.
  • The game is fully voice acted. The narrator will provide instructions to the player.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Using your mouse, left click to select and navigate.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap the screen with your fingers and use it as a mouse.

  • Overview
    • Select any of Elmo’s friends in the classroom to interact with them.
    • Before proceeding to the minigame, Elmo must solve the issue faced by his friends.
      • All the social interactions count as valid answers. This teaches children the importance of seeking alternative ways of resolving conflict.
      • You only need to resolve the issue once. If you choose to play again, the minigame will start again automatically.
    • Once you’re done, select the play again button on the upper left corner to play the minigame once more,
  • Blocks with Timmy
    • Timmy is feeling frustrated that his blocks keep falling. It’s up to you and Elmo to calm him down and build something new.
      • Help Timmy calm down.
        • Ask adult assistance: The teacher will advise Elmo to help Timmy out.
        • Draw up a plan: Elmo will offer to help Timmy create a plan
        • Count to3 : This helps Timmy relax and try again.
      • Building with blocks
        • Take turns adding blocks of your choice to the structure. You go first, followed by Timmy.
  • Dress-up with Jack and Jill
    • Jack and Jill are arguing about who should wear the unicorn costume. Help Elmo resolve their dispute before proceeding with dress up.
      • Finding a compromise
        • Ask an adult: The teacher will suggest looking for a different costume.
        • Share the unicorn: Jack and Jill agree to split the costume into two parts and form a “double corn.”
        • Take turns: Jack and Jill agree to take turns wearing the costume.
      • Dress up
        • Provide Jack and Jill with various costume pieces.
          • Each costume has 3 parts: headgear, clothes, and shoes.
          • You can create a coherent design or you can mix and match them and let hilarity ensue.
        • Once you’re done, Jack and Jill will pose a picture with Elmo.
  • Show and tell with Susie
    • Susie tripped and spilled all the toys for show and tell, and is now embarrassed by the incident. Help Elmo make her feel better.
      • Ask an adult: The teacher will tell Elmo to help Susie collect the toys.
      • Give a hug: Elmo hugs Susie, which helps her move on from the incident.
      • Take 3 breaths: Susie will take Elmo’s advice and calm down.
    • Find the toys.
      • Look for the toys scattered across the room.
      • Match the toys with the outlines on the box in the lower left corner of the screen.

Elmo Trivia

In 1996 the Tickle Me Elmo doll was the hottest toy of the holiday season. The initial run of 400,000 sold out by the day after Thanksgiving. Tyco ordered another 600,000 units from suppliers, but the “sold out” status created incremental news coverage and demand. The shopping craze led to injuries and some paid hundreds for the toy on eBay even though the MSRP was only $28.99.

In 1997 Tyco launched other Tickle Me Sesame Street dolls, but none of them captured the cultural zeitgeist the way the Elmo doll did. A decade after the original Elmo doll release Fischer-Price created a tenth anniversary doll named TMX, which stood for Tickle Me Elmo Ten.

In September 2021 many copies of the original 1996 Tickle Me Elmo doll sold new in box on eBay in the $20 to $40 range.
