How to Play
Place your pieces on the board to take control of as many pieces as you can & try to have more pieces than your oppontent at the end of the game when no valid moves remain.
Starting the Game
Select a flag commonly associates with a widely spoken language on the game loading screen. Options include English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Russian.
Choose to play against the computer or a friend using the top 2 buttons on the game welcome screen.
If you choose to play against the computer you can play as black or white by clicking on the associated piece color. By default you play as black.
There is a button with a picture of a mind on it. Click on it before clicking the play button to play against a more difficult computer opponent. The button has 4 bars on it associated with difficulty level. More filled in bars means the computer is more difficult.
Underneath these 2 buttons are buttons for sound control & how to play advice.
Aim of the game: Own more pieces than your opponent. You win by making your color dominant on the board. The game is over when neither player has a move.
Basic rules: Each Reversi piece has a black side and a white side. On your turn, you place one piece on the board with your color facing up. You must place the piece so that an opponent’s piece is flanked by your pieces. All of the opponent’s pieces between your pieces are then captured and reversed to your color. You can capture vertical, horizontal, or diagonal rows of pieces.
The circle: The numbers in the circles show how many opponent’s pieces will be captured in a move along with the spaces available.
Settings: You can choose your color and the difficulty level of the computer controlled opponent.
The bottom right corner of the welcome screen contains a full screen mode button.
Click on a square where you want to place a piece.
Tap on a square where you want to play a piece.
Controls & indicators
Across the top of the game it shows how many pieces you control and your opponent control, along with how much time you have played the game.
The game has a pause button in the lower left corner & a full screen mode in the lower right corner.
The game starts with the 4 center squares pre-filled with 2 pieces from each player.
Set a piece outside your opponent’s color to take control of their pieces.
Each valid move requires you place a piece outside of their pieces where you have at least one piece of your color on the other side (vertically, horizontally, or diagonally).
The game shows circles with numbers in them wherever valid moves appear & the circle has a count inside it associated with how many pieces you will take control of with that move.
The name of this game is not who has the most pieces throughout the game, but who has the most at the end.
In some cases it can make sense to have few pieces with your color early in the game to limit the potential moves of your competitor.
To do well in this game you want to try to obtain control of the corners, as those allow you to have control over many cells vertically, horizontally, and diagonally while not providing your competitor a piece to place outside of your controlled area to re-capture it.
Try to be careful placing any pieces only one piece away from the corner, as doing so will allow your opponent to jump you and take the corners.
The game ends when all 64 pieces on the 8×8 board are filled or when one player does not have any valid moves remaining.
The game is suited for people of all ages who like board games.
The game has no adult themed content.
