At the start of a new session, the game will load a character selection screen. Pick a character to proceed.
Afterward, it will play a brief cutscene explaining the game’s backstory.
Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
Move by doing the following actions:
Use the arrow keys.
Left click anywhere with your mouse.
With your mouse, left click to select your answers.
Tap on the screen with your fingers and use them as a mouse.
Each new game begins with the character selection screen.
You have 9 characters to choose from.
At the start of the game is a message from Fay the Fairy, who explains both what nouns are and how they are used in a sentence.
The game’s main options are located on a menu on the right center of the screen:
Fay button: Select this to reopen her help text.
Sound button: Use this to toggle the game’s audio.
Coin counter: This shows you how many of the coins you’ve collected so far. The game has 40 coins in total.
Walk around the castle and collect as many coins as you can.
Answer the puzzles sent by the castle’s defenders.
Reach the minotaur to retrieve the Orb of Nouns.
Entering the castle:
The knight will determine your worthiness by asking you which nouns are proper or common nouns.
Hint: Proper nouns refer to entities with names, such as people, characters, brands, and locations. Their first letters are always capitalized.
Answer 5 questions correctly in a row to enter. One mistake will reset the counter.
To open the door, flip the switches to identify if their words are nouns. If you affirm that they are the switch goes up.
The door will only open if you identified all the nouns correctly.
If you make even one mistake, you must flip the switches all over again.
Crossing the chasm
Jump onto the tiles, Indiana Jones-style, that represent a noun.
It’s a long way down if you choose poorly.
Each step you take will reveal 3 more words. Pick the noun to move forward.
Creating a path
The defender will ask you if a word is a singular or plural noun.
Answer correctly and a new node will appear on your path.
You can only go forward if you answer correctly.
Hint: Plural nouns refer to several nouns at once. They often, but not always, end with an s. A group of nouns, while made up of several items, is treated as a singular noun.
The minotaur will test you for worthiness to retrieve the Orb of Nouns.
Select the nouns in the sentence.
Hint: A noun is often the subject or object of a sentence.
Only nouns used as nouns count in this test. If a word that is normally a noun is used to describe a subject or object, it is an adjective.
The adjectives are a different quest.
Select “check” at the lower right corner to verify your answer. You can only move forward once you’ve selected all the correct words.
Answer all 5 questions to receive the orb.
Feel free to explore the castle before you enter any rooms with a door. 0This lets you collect all the coins in the game. Once a door closes, you will not be able to leave through it. This game does not allow you to backtrack.
