How to Play
Explore the tower and face the challenges within. Use your combined skills in the parts of speech to vanquish the evil dragon once and for all.
Starting the Game
Select the green and white play button to load the welcome screen.
On the welcome screen, choose from 2 game modes to begin:
New Game: This starts you at the very beginning. Choose this if you are a first-time player or want to start over for any reason.
Continue: This option lets you pick up where you last left off.
Whenever you start a new game, you must pick a character from the selection screen.
Every game begins with a cutscene slideshow on the game’s lore. Select the Next button on the lower right corner to skip each slide.
Your web browser automatically saves your game progress.
There are 2 ways to move around:
Press the arrow keys on your keyboard.
Left click on where you want to go with your mouse.
Using your mouse, left click to select the answers of your choice.
Tap the screen with your fingers and use them as a mouse.
The character selection screen opens up whenever you start a new game.
Choose from among 9 different characters to play as.
Fay the Fairy’s help text appears as pop-ups on the screen. They play each time you begin a new game.
You can access these controls on the menu at the center right of the screen.
Fay button: Select this to open up Fay’s help texts again.
Sound button: Use this to turn the game’s audio on and off.
Coin counter: Keep track of the coins you pick up. There are 40 coins throughout this game.
Explore the dragon’s tower and confront its challenges.
Collect all the coins.
The evil dragon awaits in his lair. Defeat him and banish him forever.
Enter the dragon’s lair (nouns and verbs)
Answer the dragon’s minion to enter the tower.
Determine whether his words are nouns or verbs.
You must make 5 correct answers in a row to enter.
Hint: Nouns refer to objects or ideas. Verbs refer to actions.
Switches (adjectives and adverbs)
Flip the switches in the correct order. Identify whether the words on the switches are adjectives or adverbs.
Adjectives flip switches up whereas adverbs flip them down.
If you don’t flip them all correctly, you must start over from the beginning.
Hint: Not every word that ends with a -ly is an adverb.
Create a path (conjunctions and interjections)
To cross the chasm, identify whether each word show is a conjunction or interjection.
A correct answer extends your path while wrong answer leaves you where you are.
Keep answering until you reach the other side.
Hint: Interjections represent emotions and tend to resemble written-out sound effects.
Stepping stones (various word types)
Answer each question by stepping on the stone with the correct answer. Choose from 3 stones.
The questions will ask which words are a specific part of speech.
Every correct answer you make moves you forward.
Make one wrong answer, and you fall down. From there, you must start the challenge all over again.
Face the dragon
Intimidate the evil dragon by identifying all the parts of speech in a sentence.
Select a label for the parts of speech from the bottom center of the screen and put them below each word.
Articles (a, the) do not need to be labeled.
You can only move to the next question when you’ve labeled all the words correctly.
Answer all 5 to vanquish the dragon.
Explore each section thoroughly before entering any major area to collect all the coins. You cannot backtrack in this game.
