This is a very superficial, pared down version of the popular arcade game Tetris. Arrange blocks in straight rows to clear them. You can clear up to four lines in a stack. Keep clearing blocks until you can’t. The line piece isn’t always available when you need it. The squiggly pieces appear more often than you want them to. You know, just like the olden days.

It doesn’t have many of the frills of the modern incarnations of the game. Indeed, other than its graphics, it functions very old school. You have no option to save blocks for later, nor do you have a way to drop the blocks. This is sometimes more blessing than curse. This feature lets you move pieces with surgical precision.

The isometric appearance does add a layer of difficulty. You can’t always tell where the player board actually ends. As a standard Tetris clone, it’s nothing too fancy. And that might be exactly what you want.

Falling cubes is a version of Tetris. To play it on desktop, use your arrow keys to manipulate the blocks. Just like the classic game, the blocks fall a little bit faster every time you advance into a new level. It’s fun to reach for the highest score with your friends. The challenge is figuring the block’s placement before it falls. If your existing blocks are pretty high already, you might get into a slight panic. Just remember the up arrow key rotates the block. Avoid pressing the down arrow key to keep it from falling faster. Making that mistake often ends up in awkward block placements.

Unlike the original 20-D Tetris, this game comes in a slightly diagonal angle. If you’re not careful, you might miscalculate that angle to fit two blocks. Be mindful that it only fits one square space. It’s also tricky to use the keyboard control. Just don’t panic and you’ll reach higher levels, even when the blocks are falling faster. Enjoy playing till you drop.
