How to Play

Beat up enemies and use your special powers to navigate your way through 3 fun levels to break the worm.

• Starting the Game
  • Click the “Play” button in the lower left corner.
    • If you have already played the game in the past there will be buttons for “New Game” or “Continue.”
    • If you have already beaten all 3 worlds there will also be a button for “Nightmare Mode.”
  • Your game progress (including spare lives, beat world, and high scores in each level) is stored in your local web browser.
    • You get a star rating for each level & can score up to 5 stars.
    • Each dream / level / world must be beat to unlock the next.
  • The game welcome screen contains a sound control button in the upper right corner.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop: Use your keyboard to control Finn.
    • Arrow keys: move Finn up, down, left or right.
    • Z: attack
    • X: jump
    • C: rotate through special attacks
    • space bar: use special attack
    • X then Z: jump attack
      • enemies that are great at blocking regular attacks are generally poor at blocking jump attacks

• Strategy
  • Super Powers
    • In this game you acquire 3 different special attack super powers which can be used any time your special attack meter is at half power or full power.
      • Shark Attack – you run back and forth on a static horizontal plane attacking people with a shark you manifest. Both other attacks are much more powerful as they allow you to hit just about anything on the screen.
      • Giant Feet – this attack allows you to stomp enemies, though you have to move Finn around the screen to hit them.
      • Fear Attack – conjure a giant octopus which attacks everything on the screen (& even new enemies that spawn during the attack). This attack takes the full special power meter.
  • Lives
    • You start the game with 3 extra lives. It typically takes a decent number of hits to kill you during normal play, however in Nightmare Mode ordinary enemies can kill you in about 3 or 4 hits.
    • In boxes scattered throughout the game there are heart icons which restore some of your health and an icon of Finn’s hat which gives you more lives.
      • You can build up lives which carry over from level to level & from the ordinary game mode to Nightmare Mode.
      • The first time I played the game I beat Dad’s Dungeon with 6 lives and my computer did a restart overnight while I had the game on pause & I was able to start Candy Kingdom with 6 lives.
      • I beat the game with 8 lives and started Nightmare Mode with 8 lives.
      • If your computer crashes or you perform poorly in a level and do not want to exit it to the next level you can restart the game by refreshing your web browser.
        • This will lead you to starting with the same attributes you had at the beginning of the level.
    • When your life is low be prepared to use your special attacks liberally and quickly, especially if there are nearby boxes which could restore your health.
    • If you die, when you are put back into play you can quickly get hit again, so be ready to jump and punch almost immediately.
    • If you lose all your lives you can continue again on the same level you were on and will start with the current life and 3 spare lives.
  • Levels
    • The game has 3 levels or worlds: Ice Kingdom, Dad’s Dungeon, and Candy Kingdom.
    • You must beat each dream / nightmare to unlock the next.
    • Once a level is beat you can go back and play it again, enabling you to achieve a higher score and/or rebuild spare lives.
    • The “Nightmare Mode” of the game has the same 3 levels in it, though they are much harder.
      • Enemies can kill you in only 3 or 4 hits.
      • End bosses can take over 100 hits to kill.
  • Fighting Strategy
    • This game feels a bit like a button masher game. And by that I mean if you just use the punch attack repeatedly it may not work so well, but there are only 2 attack types: regular & special.
    • If the screen is full of enemies and you first jump until you hit something and then keep hitting the punch button it works well.
      • You can score combo hits where you hit an enemy dozens of times even if their health has been depleted after the first half dozen or dozen hits.
      • If you time it right you can transition from a jump attack of one enemy into an attack of another and keep racking up your combo bonus.
      • You can keep punching an enemy and racking up your combo bonus even after it’s health has been fully depleted.
    • In the normal mode the game is quite easy to where you can beat the game with 8 or 9 lives saved up, though in Nightmare Mode the game is much harder, so make sure you have some lives saved up from regular play before entering the Nightmare Mode version of the game.
    • When there are many enemies on the screen use your power attack. If the octopus fear attack is available that often kills so many enemies that they leave behind nearly enough power refills to power another special attack.
    • The first and third levels have end bosses where you can only attack when their protective shield is down.
      • Try to avoid getting hit while their shield is up & attack any other enemies which appear during this period.
      • Move in aggressively for a combo attack or use the fear attack when their shield is down.
    • On the second level in lieu of an end boss there is a sequence where you face many enemies in a row. Be sure to leverage your special power attack repeatedly while the screen is full of enemies.
    • And here are a couple general tips
      • Your opponents try to position you so they are on both sides of you. Run up or down and around to get outside of such a trap.
      • If the level has spikes on it you can have enemies run over the spikes trying to get to you and die. When they die this way you can still pick up power boosts they left behind.
      • Enemies can also die by being shot by flames thrown from worms.
      • Worms only shoot on a straight horizontal plane and typically have a limited range of movement up and down. Be aware of their range and attack the shooting worms one at a time from a position where you are not facing repeated fire from the opposite direction.

      • Largely the only difference between the characters is aesthetics. Here is how the characters are described in the album.
        • Gumball – My dummy older brother. When a friend is in need, he can’t say NO, even if it leads to a catastrophic chain of events.
        • Darwin – My overly-optimistic brother. Whenever Carrie is in the picture he can get a little weird.
    • The final character of the game is Carrie.
      • The game ends when you enter the top center attic room and save Carrie.
      • The room directly below Carrie has multiple highly difficult Bully Ghost enemies in it.
        • Ensure you have full health and have cleared all other green exclamation points from the house before attempting to save Carrie so you have the best odds of success against the multiple Bully Ghosts.
  • All about ghosts
    • Ghost encounters appear at random in each room you enter.
      • When ghosts appear, the lighting inside the house changes to a disco ball.
      • Ghosts will typically appear in 1 or 2 waves.
        • When one wave ends the next begins almost immediately.
        • The room with the blue key in it has what feels like an endless stream of surfer ghosts which keep coming as you fight. The room is located on the far left of the fifth floor.
      • The further in the house you go, the more ghosts will spawn.
      • More powerful ghosts will spawn along side them.
    • If ghosts get near you, they will attack.
      • They cannot attack you if they are dazed.
      • If some ghosts are near you then flash your camera and try to take them out before they can hit you.
    • Catching ghosts is a 2-step process.
      • The first step is daze them by the flash of a camera.
        • Press the space bar to activate the flash.
        • The flash has a cooldown time of a few seconds.
        • Some ghosts need 2 flashes to daze,
        • Keep track of the flash by looking at the camera icon on the bottom left corner.
      • Catch the ghosts with your vacuum while they’re dazed.
        • Left click and drag your cursor toward the location of the ghosts.
        • Each ghost has one or more white circle indication its energy.
          • The less energy they have, the easier they are to catch.
          • Sometimes ghosts have multiple energy circles. You must deplete them all to capture them.
        • Their energy depletes while they are in the range of your vacuum.
          • Keep your vacuum aimed at the ghosts to catch them.
          • You know they’re being captured if they flail around.
          • If you break contact with them, they recover and need to be dazed again.
        • You can capture several ghosts at once if they’re at the same angle & are in range of your vacuum.
    • Ghost types
      • Octo-Ghost are white ghost which are slow and not very tough, but facing a whole gang could present a problem.
      • Cool Ghost are blue ghost with purple surfboard. These ghosts are as fast as they are groovy. They can protect their eyes to avoid being stunned, but that’s nothing a second flash can’t handle.
      • Bully Ghost are large green ghosts. Early in the game they have sunglasses & later into the game they have a welding helmet. They can have a half dozen circles each. The game describes them as follows: “These seem more dangerous and know how to protect themselves. I hope they don’t have more tricks up their sleeves!”
      • Slippery Ghost is a blue ghost which looks a bit like a cat. They can bounce attack you & the game states these guys can go into walls and avoid being flashed.
    • Ghost catching strategy
      • If a room has many ghosts in it one can focus on taking out the weaker ghosts first to help create breathing room, or to focus on sucking ghosts where many are located at the same angle so it is easy to do damage to many at once.
      • If a ghost has limited energy left in a circle but has multiple circles they will bounce away after you clear out each circle.
      • Sometimes when ghosts bounce they drop heart containers.
      • Some Bully Ghosts may keep calling additional waves of enemies, which can be beneficial if you need to catch the weaker ghosts trying to shake loose heart containers, but otherwise you should try to take out the Bully Ghosts as fast as possible.
  • Equipment upgrades
    • As you progress through the game, you gain more powerful ghost vacuums that make quicker work of ghosts. As your vacuum is upgraded repeatedly you get a broader range and a stronger suction.
    • As you progress through the game you get a second, third and fourth flash for your camera, allowing you to repeatedly shoot & safely manage rooms with more ghosts in them.
  • Lives
    • You start the game with 3 hearts.
      • The hearts showing your current health status are shown in the top left corner of the screen.
      • Each heart consists of 4 hit points. You lose hit points each time a ghost attacks you.
    • You gain additional heart slots as you progress through the game. You can get a fourth , fifth, and sixth heart container.
  • Special rooms
    • As you progress through the house some rooms have a green exclamation point on them indicating an important part of the story or a featured item is located there.
    • These rooms contain things like: keys, characters, heart containers, stronger vacuums, and additional camera flashes.
  • Diary
    • You can access the diary by selecting the pause button on the top right corner of the screen.
    • The diary is divided into 5 sections. It begins with an intro from Anais describing the game’s premise.
    • The next section is a tutorial. Come back to this if you ever need a refresher course.
    • The map shows your current location in the house. It shows which rooms you have explored and the pathways between rooms. Rooms with special items in them have a green exclamation point & rooms which are behind a locked door show the key color needed to unlock that room.
    • The Bestiary contains information on both the ghosts and on Anais’ brothers.
    • The final section of the diary is a few screenshots of the crew’s escape. This is unlocked once you find Carrie in the attic.
  • Bestiary
    • Octo-Ghosts
      • They look like little cartoon octopuses.
      • They’re very weak, usually having no more than 1 to 2 energy circles.
      • They will attack you if they get too close.
      • They can be problematic if you have too many to deal with at a time.
    • Cool Ghosts
      • They appear as a floating skater boy outfit with a skateboard.
      • Much stronger than octo-ghosts, they usually have 2 to 3 energy circles.
      • They move fast.
      • Because of their cool shades, it takes 2 flashes to daze them.
    • Bully Ghosts
      • They look like green skeleton thugs.
      • They can have up to 4 energy circles.
      • They usually take 2 flashes to daze, and even then they can work around it.
      • They can wear welding masks to become temporarily immune to getting flashed.
      • They have a stronger attack compared with other ghosts as their piledrivers can take out 2 hit points instead of 1.
    • Slippery Ghosts
      • They look like silhouette ghost cats.
      • They have around 2 to 3 energy circles.
      • While they’re dazed in 1 flash, they’re quite fast and can avoid being dazed by fading into the walls.
      • They will roll at you to attack, so be prepared to daze them then and there.

Survive as many drone waves as you can. Defeat the drones by shooting at them.

    • Survive for as many waves as you can.
      • You lose health each time the enemy attacks you.
      • You don’t recover health until you receive the heal or life steal upgrades, so make it count.
      • Over time, you can upgrade your health bar to help you survive for longer.
      • When you start the next wave your health remains where it was at the end of the prior wave. It does not restore to full health when you play another wave.
  • Waves
    • As you progress through the game enemies gain additional skills (firepower, faster speed, etc.) and levels go from 8 to 16 to 25 to 50 enemies in a wave.
    • When you see waves with a single enemy that means it is a boss battle. Be sure to keep your distance between you and them while avoiding their shots & any clouds they summon.
  • Upgrades
    • Upgrades are determined at random. You get a new set of 3 after every wave.
    • The upgrades are as follows:
      • Multi-shot: Increases the number of rounds fired each time you shoot
      • Reduce special timer: Decreases the time it takes for the special attack to charge
      • Payback: Each time the enemy does attack, they deal damage
      • Speed boost: Increases your movement speed
      • Health boost: Increases your health
      • Stun shot: Enemies are
      • Pierce shot: Shots go through a number of enemies
      • Damage boost: Increases damage incrementally
      • Heal: Restores your whole health bar
      • Life steal: Restores your health bar little by little each time you defeat an enemy
    • Some upgrades can be used more than once to increase their effects.
      • For example, you can get a double shot then a triple shot.
    • Best upgrades
      • The best upgrades to obtain in this game are life steal, multi-shot & speed boost. These effectively allow you to replenish help, shoot many enemies at once, and allow you to run away from enemies until your positioning is more advantageous.
  • Strategy
    • The aim of the game is to avoid getting hit. You can hold the fire button in continuously and simply evade, as the aiming feature will to some degree auto-lock on opponents most of the time.
    • When evading enemies be sure to move backward away from them & to also move to the side slightly so that any shots at your prior position from just about any direction will be off.
    • You can use the trees in the middle of the screen as a block between you and enemies if there are too many of them & you are struggling to evade them.
    • Be careful relying on your power shots as those mostly only work when enemies are close to you, but if an enemy hits you and stuns you then a swarm of other enemies may hit you and end your game before you can get the special power shot off.
• Target Audience
  • The game is suited for people of all ages who like Ben 10 or beat’em up games.
  • The game has no adult themed content.

      • Your special attack will take time to recharge.
      • Upgrading can reduce the time it takes to charge your special attack.
  • Hit points
    • Enemies come in two flavors: ranged and melee
      • Both types of enemies can be defeated by fighting them head on.
      • Ranged enemies can fire from a distance, but go down fast.
        • You can dodge their projectiles if need be.
      • Melee enemies can only attack you when they’re close.
    • In some parts of a level, you must contend with large waves of enemies coming at once.
      • You can’t leave until all the enemies are defeated.
      • The enemies might come in two to three waves.
    • Replenish your hit points by collecting hearts.
      • Hearts may be found lying around the world or within boxes and other objects across the level.
      • Defeated enemies may also spawn hearts.

    • Use your XP wisely
      • You won’t go far in the first level if you don’t upgrade.
        • Your first few tries will serve as level grinding.
        • Expect to do a lot of level grinding before getting to the bosses.
      • Prioritize your attack strength and hit points first. Make the cooldown time of your special attacks a second priority, and the XP magnet third.
      • Put off upgrading the Omnicopter until you’ve collected a lot of decorations.
    • Choose your battles and your paths wisely.
      • You don’t need to unblock every corridor to progress through the game.
      • Leave blocked areas that lead to locked rooms. Save your special attacks for where it matters.
      • Use special attacks to clear out large clusters of enemies. We recommend them for areas with 5 or more enemies or during enemy waves.
      • Unless you’re level grinding, you don’t need to face all the enemies in a level. If you can avoid the areas where enemy waves happen, do so.
    • Take note of an enemy’s attack range:
      • Ranged enemies can cause a lot of damage if you can’t dodge their projectiles. Take them out first if possible.
      • Dodge their projectiles whenever you can.
      • Short-ranged enemies will attack back when you’re close, but ranged enemies usually can’t.

    • Enemy attacks
      • Even making contact with an enemy is enough to make you lose health.
      • Some enemies and all bosses will fire at you from a distance.
    • Fighting enemies
      • You can fire shuriken at enemies from a distance and use your sword at close range.
      • We recommend using the shuriken to snipe at enemies from a distance and the sword when there is insufficient space to separate you from the enemy.
      • In some levels, it is possible to snipe at an enemy while hiding behind a box.
      • If you are on a platform below an opponent and slightly off to the side you can jump and throw a few shuriken at them and fall back down before their projectile fires at you. Repeat the process a few times and you defeat them without any close contact & without getting hit.
      • You can shoot enemies while they are offscreen, which is particularly helpful on boss battles where the bosses are far stronger than you are.
    • Boss Battles
      • The first boss is easy to beat by rapidly firing shuriken at him.
      • The second boss is easy to beat the same way as the first boss provided you immediately fire shuriken as soon as the level loads & before he comes into view.
      • The third boss is Kenko. You can beat him (slowly) by standing just left of where his left arm hits and keep tapping the sword button, while staying out of the range of the left edge of his attack. After the left arm has been destroyed you can stand about centerline to his body and use the same technique on the right arm.
  • Alien transformations
    • You can switch between 2 alien transformations: Cannonbolt and Fourarms
      • Cannonbolt can roll and flatten enemies.
      • Fourarms can destroy walls by following the sequence of keys shown just above it.
    • Work fast, as Ben can only take on an alien form for a brief time.
    • After Ben clocks out, he cannot go alien again until the Omnitrix recharges.
      • You can see the Omnitrix’s charge level on the top left corner of the screen.
  • Score
    • Gain points by collecting coins and defeating enemies.
      • Coins are worth 10 points each
      • Most enemies are worth 100 points, while some weaker flying enemies are worth 45 points, a few weaker standing enemies are worth 75 points.
      • Bosses are worth 1,000 times what boss number they are. The first boss is 1,000 points & the second boss is 2,000 points.
      • At the end of boss battle levels you score points for how much energy you have left (max of 10,000) and how many lives you have left (500 each).
    • You can see your score for the level on the top right corner of the screen.

        • In most circumstances, you can only attack enemies that are in front of you.

          • The stronger your attacks, the quicker their health bar declines.
        • As you kill enemies, they drop power ups. Pick them up.
        • As the level progresses, you may soon encounter groups of enemies.
      • Choosing the right weapon
        • You start off with only one: your fists.
        • Unlock newer weapons that have different areas of effectiveness”
          • The sword can help you clear large groups of enemies at once.
          • The crossbow allows you to take out your enemies from a wider distance, as long as they’re not obstructed.
        • These new weapons have a point cost. You must defeat enough enemies before you can unlock them.
        • To buy or select a weapon, pause the game and select the weapon of your choice on the pause menu
    • Charge up all your power meters
      • Over time, your power meters save for your hit points decay. You jump slower, move slower, and attack less effectively over time.
      • Collect power ups to charge your power meters.
        • You can acquire them by picking them up where they spawn or by defeating enemies.
        • Power ups flicker from one type to the next and must be locked in to use.
        • To lock them in, simply left click or tap on them.
        • Collect a power up by walking toward it.
      • Charging your power meters to 100 percent will trigger Frank’s arrival.
    • Defeat Frank
      • Attack Frank like any other enemy.
      • Keep attacking until his life meter reaches zero. When he’s down, you win the game.
  • Enemies
    • Main enemies take several hits to defeat. They drop power ups when they die.
      • Assistants cannot attack from afar but will try to chase you.
      • Mad scientists will throw projectiles at you but can also attack from up close. They summon rag monsters.
    • Secondary enemies act more like hazards. They go down in one hit.
      • Rag monsters
        • These emerge from the projectiles launched by mad scientists.
        • They attack you if you step on them.
      • Spiders
        • These are found on the topmost platforms.
        • They drop down on you.

    • Press the right arrow key to move right.

    • Press the spacebar to kick, punch, or throw disks at enemies.
    • Press the spacebar and hold it in to do a high-power attack, which can be done once per stage.

    • There is a joystick-like movement button set in the lower left corner of the screen.
    • The attack button is in the lower right corner of the screen.
  • Controls & indicators
    • Your score is shown in the upper left.
    • Your hit points are shown top center.
    • Your remaining lives are shown in the top right corner.
    • The number of students you have saved are indicated by white bars in the lower left corner & the remaining students to save are shown as gray bars.
    • The bottom center has a pause button which brings up a menu that allows you to resume play, quit the game, and turn game sounds on or off.
    • The bottom right corner shows how much time you have remaining to beat the current level.

  • Levels
    • This game has 4 missions with each mission having 2 levels on it.
      • The first level of each mission has you start going left to right.
      • The second level of each mission has you start going right to left.
    • In addition to the core 8 levels there are a couple boss battles and there is a bonus round after every other regular level.
    • The first 4 levels are mostly horizontal, though some buildings have classmates hidden on higher floors.
      • When you move off of the ground level up to the second or third floor you typically have to go back down to the ground level before you can move on toward climbing the next building (e.g. you can’t jump across from the fifth level of one building to the fourth level of another).
    • The last 4 levels have more up and down to them.
      • Levels 5 and 6 have you climb a mountainside where you have to traverse side to side to find a platform to jump higher onto.
      • Levels 7 and 8 are inside a cave and are more horizontal than 5 or 6, but you still have to periodically jump up and down as you make your way through the game.
  • Extra Lives
    • On each of the core 8 levels you can rescue up to 10 kids within each level.
      • If you rescue all kids it is good for an extra life.
      • If you are about to run out of time it is better to finish the level without finding the last student rather than finding the last student and risk not making it to the level exit on time.
    • After each set of 2 levels there is a bonus round. If you hit all the ninjas in the bonus round you earn a free life.
    • You start the game with a couple extra lives but can build up around a dozen between the bonus rounds and regular play.
  • Dying
    • In this game you get 5 hit points & you get 3 to 4 minutes to beat each level.
    • If you get hit 5 times and lose all your health that consumes a life & you continue on the current level from your current position.
    • If the level timer runs out before you reach the exit it consumes a life and you have to restart the current level from the beginning.
    • If you finish a level with partial health you begin the next level with full life.
  • Fighting tips
    • In this game you primarily want to use your range attack so you are not within striking range of the opponents.
      • When using range attack you usually want to duck down so you can hit ninjas even if they are ducking.
    • If an area of the game has many range attack and melee enemies in it at the same time your best bet is to run toward the range attack enemies while rapidly attacking until you take them out, then take out the melee enemies.
    • In some areas you can simply skip opponents, but this can come back to bite you if you get used to it as new enemies can spawn at any time and the enemies you skipped can catch back up to you while you are fighting the other enemies.
    • If you are near the end of the level and have already saved all of the students and are low on health you can keep running if the attackers are melee fighters.
      • If there are range fighters who can hit you from afar you may need to stop and defeat them before running to the level exit.
  • Boss battles
    • This game has a couple boss battles in it. Bosses are generally easy as long as you fire quickly. The only boss that is remotely challenging is the final boss, and that is because you can hit yourself!
    • The final boss reflects your shot back at you if you shoot too many times, so the best way to beat him is to do standing shots at him from afar until they start bouncing back at you, then do duck shots at the green monsters until they are cleared out, then do standing shots once more until one bounces back at you, duck, and repeat the process.
  • Scoring
    • Defeated enemies are worth 100 points each.
    • Saved classmates earn you 100 points when you save them, then another 100 points at the end of the level.
    • Each second you have remaining when you beat a level is worth 50 points.
    • Each ninja you hit in the bonus round is worth 100 points.
    • At the end of the bonus round you earn another 100 points for each ninja you hit, unless you hit all ninjas, in which case you earn a 10,000 point bonus.
    • Your game score is cumulative across levels.

    • Level 1: This level teaches the basics of the game like how to move, collecting stars, avoiding dangers & hitting enemies with a melee weapon. You also open up the sketchbook to draw the character’s face & melee weapon on this level. The superhero Macho Taco is unlocked near the end of the level.
    • Level 2: On the second level you get your throwing weapon. The level introduces switches which open doors. This level introduces cue cards where you can draw parts of the level like springs to jump on.
    • Level 2 Boss Battle: At the end of level 2 you defeat Belinda the dinosaur with the help of Macho Taco. You can press the Macho Taco icon to call him to temporarily stun Belinda then attack her while she is stunned, or just use your throwing weapon on her without stunning her first. There are hearts on some of the higher platforms.
    • Level 3: On the third level you unlock Doctor Gutpunch. You also draw the moving platforms which appear in future levels.
    • Level 4: This level introduces flamethrowers which shoot flames at you periodically.
    • Level 4 Boss Battle: You once again face Belinda. You can have Doctor Gutpunch stun her then hit her many times consecutively. Standing on the ledges at the left or right edge of the screen is a great way to avoid getting hit. If you go up for the hearts at the top of the screen be careful as she can hit you by jumping into you and there are horizontal flamethrowers which shoot flames out near where the hearts are.
    • Level 5: Unlock Tributt on this level. Obtain and draw the shield, and practice blocking attacks.
    • Level 6: This level has tons of switches which require you go back and forth across portions of the level many times. In some areas you need to ride moving platforms while holding in a block to avoid getting burned by flamethrowers.
    • Level 6 Boss Battle: You face Belinda a third time. This time Tributt is your superhero helper. You can get about 4 or 5 hits in after each time he helps & when you are not attacking you can stand on the ledge near the left edge of the screen to avoid getting hit.
    • Level 7: The final stage is a boss battle versus Dawnzilla. On this level you cycle through all 3 superheroes as helpers. This is quite easy to win if you use a superhero to knock her off balance & then run past the flame and onto the small platform near the level entrance then range attack from there (this attack position is shown in the screenshots below – third from the bottom). Obtaining a three pencil rating on this level is difficult as collecting all the stars is quite hard with 3 different types of fireballs shot at you, rocks falling from the ceiling & you have to pass by that flame thrower each time you fall to the bottom of the level to try to get back up again.
  • Fighting
    • Defeating enemies
      • After the first level most enemies take two or three hits to beat.
      • Boss battles take a couple dozen or more hits to defeat.
    • Getting hit
      • If you get hit in battle you are temporarily invincible, but you also can not attack while you are in that state.
      • Most enemies also become stunned when hit & can not attack while stunned.
      • If you get stuck in a stunned cycle it can make sense to back off rather than trying to attack.
      • If you lose health you can collect hearts to restore it.
    • Throwing items
      • When you throw items they curve up slightly then arch back down.
      • Any item you throw can hit multiple enemies.
    • Battle strategy
      • It is generally best to use range attack from afar.
      • When you stun an enemy (other than a boss battle) you can typically keep attacking until they are defeated while repeatedly stunning them on each attack.
      • Some enemies that are hard to reach without getting hit may be better to skip, or you may need to go past them further into the level and then circle back to beat them.
  • Drawing in Sketchbook
    • Throughout the game you can draw aspects of the game including your face, melee weapon, throwing weapon, hat, shield, jumping springs, and platforms.
    • When you draw items they will appear transparent where they are not colored, so you may want to color parts of items white or black if you do not want them to be transparent.
    • You can erase your most recent coloring using the undo button. You can use

    • You can score up to 3 pencils on each level based on how many points you score.
    • Stars are worth 50 points each.
    • Enemies you destroy are worth points, with most enemies being worth 100 points and a few being valued at 150 points.

Mighty MagiSwords Dimensional Domination Video Game Play Instructions

How to Play

Time your slash attacks to hit enemies without getting hit. Pick up in game item drops to restore health and shift to fighting with more powerful MagiSwords.

• Starting the Game
  • Click the blue play button in the lower right corner of the game.
  • The welcome screen also contains a sound control button in the lower left corner.
  • Your web browser automatically saves your game progress including which of the 15 swords you have unlocked.
• Game Controls
  • Desktop
    • Hold you mouse left click in, drag to set your sword swing strength and angle, then release to swing.
    • Some swords also have a projectile firing feature activated in a similar way.
    • If you swing your sword hard left or right you’ll move left or right & if you swing your sword hard while also directing upward you will typically jump with most swords.
  • Touchscreen devices
    • Tap the screen and swipe to use your sword.
  • The game has a pause button in the upper left corner. Pausing the game brings up the game menu which offers the following options: go to welcome screen, music control, full screen mode, and resume play.
• Game Play
  • Health & dying
    • You start each dimension with 5 heart containers.
    • Each time you get hit you lose a heart container.
    • If you lose all 5 you die and start at the beginning of the game, though you keep your unlocked swords.
    • Some enemies drop heart containers which you can pick up to restore health, though you can hold a maximum of 5 heart containers.
  • Levels
    • Each level has a set number of kills you must make before the boss appears in the boss battles.
      • For example, after 18 enemies are beat the first boss appears & the second boss appears after 33 enemies.
      • Bosses you beat add toward your enemies defeated count which appears in the upper right corner.
    • The boss typically takes around 5 hits to kill, though the exact number of hits depends on the sword as some are stronger than others. A boss which takes 5 hits with the pencil sword might only take 2 or 3 with the ground pound sword.
  • Enemies
    • Most enemies only take a single hit to kill, with the exception of the level-end bosses.
      • You can hit multiple enemies with a single swing. On the third level sometimes you can even get 3 or 4 in a single swing.
    • The hardest regular enemy is the green cactus ball which jumps.
      • If you do not have a range attack on your sword you have to time hitting it just right (around when it lands or when it is at the bottom of its jumping pattern).
      • Some swords like the chainsaw ae awful at fighting that enemy type. Your first goal should be to avoid getting hit and then try to align a strong attack when the timing is right.
    • Enemies typically enter the level through rips in the sky and fall directly down.
      • If an enemy appears above you and is falling then you can either try to swipe hard to one side or the other to evade it or swipe up to try to kill it.
      • In most cases it is better to try to swipe aside, get significant distance between you and the enemy, and then fight the enemy. If you initiate an attack when you are too close to an enemy you can still get hit even if you hit them.
    • Flying enemies
      • On the third level many of the enemies are UFOs. Be sure to position yourself and time your slashes so that you do not get hit by other UFOs after hitting one. Try to either have them precisely aligned above you, use a sword with a range attack that fires without you jumping, or pick them off one at a time.
    • Bosses
      • Each boss is quite unique. The first dimension has a boss who flies back and forth on a hoversword while dropping bombs on you, the second boss is a dinosaur and the third boss is a huge fist which punches down from the sky.
      • It is important to go into boss battles with full health or near full health as they are much harder than regular enemies.
      • For the first boss wait until he is above you then do a hard attack straight up.
      • For the second boss the key is to not be where he lands, hit him right after he lands, then move away again & repeat the process.
      • The third boss is similar to the second in terms of avoiding the landing, but it has 3 different ways it can hit you between directly hitting you, sending shockwaves on the ground, and electric shocks flying through the air.
  • Swords
    • This game has 15 MagiSwords available in it.
      • Initially only the pencil is available, but over time you unlock dolphin, accordion, snowball, extendo flick, exploding bubble, chainsaw, tomato, oinkus oinkus, lobster claw, cactus, excaliburger, ground pound, zombie pumpkin, and frog missile.
      • Whenever you start a new game you start back at the first level, but you keep all of your sword unlocks and can choose which one you want to start with.
      • Each sword has strengths and weaknesses.
        • The chainsaw sword allows you to dash attack a long distance, but is poor at attacking nearby enemies which are too close.
        • The zombie pumpkin sword makes it all but impossible to move, but allows you to fire seeds quickly across the screen rapidly.
        • The ground pound sword hits harder than other swords.
    • As you beat enemies some drop new swords in combat which you can pick up.
      • If you do not want a particular sword you can avoid it until it disappears after a few seconds.
      • Sometimes you accidentally pick up a sword you do not want instantly while defeating enemies.

  • The game is suited for Mighty MagiSwords fans of all ages.
  • The game has no adult themed content.

How to Play

Defend yourself from enemy attacks and hit the enemies when they are vulnerable, fighting your way through each day of an unordinary week.

• Starting the Game
  • Click the orange play button at the bottom of the screen to start the game.
    • This will bring up the level select screen.
    • Initially only Monday is unlocked. You can scroll through the rest of the week, but can not play any of them. Each day of the week needs to be beaten to unlock subsequent days.
    • Your gameplay progress is stored in your local web browser.
  • The welcome screen offers a sound control button in the upper right corner.
• Game Controls
  • Click the left mouse button or use the button on the left side of the screen to defend.
    • When the screen turns red you should repeatedly tap the defense button.
    • When you are in ordinary battle you have to time blocking their hit attempts starting it when the circle under your enemy is yellow so you block them when they try to strike.
  • Click the right mouse button or use the button on the right side of the screen to attack.
    • When the screen turns the color of your Powerpuff Girl you should repeatedly tap attack.
    • When you are in ordinary battle you have to time the attack starting it when the circle under your enemy is yellow so you hit them when they are red.
• Strategy
  • Death
    • If you die in battle with one of the girls then you can fight with each of the 2 remaining girls one at a time.
    • If you die with all 3 girls it is game over, but you can restart playing the same day / level.
    • If you pass a level with 1 or 2 girls dying off you start the next day of the week with all 3 girls.
    • If you die the “try again” overlay offers 2 buttons for level select and repeating the current level you failed.
  • Fighting
    • Many enemies have obvious patterns to follow.
      • Learn their pattern by observing it.
      • Unless you have strong cues to the opposite, presume the next move will be to defend.
    • Screen movement
      • If the screen is moving and/or enemy are moving in your direction you will likely need to click the defense button.
      • If you are moving to the right you will likely need to click the attack button.
    • The colors near on the screen and near your footing offer cues.
      • If the screen turns red tap the defense button repeatedly.
      • If the screen turns the color of your Powderpuff Girl then tap the attack button repeatedly.
      • If the screen is moving and/or enemy are moving in your direction you will likely need to click the defense button.
      • If you are moving to the right you will likely need to click the attack button.
      • Timing when to hit the defense or attack button can be made easier by looking at the aim button underneath you or the opponent. If you are too early (when it is red) you will miss, but if you hit when it goes yellow then the block will be in place when the enemy attacks
