Battle Battle has a different take on the game of chance. It comes with five selection turns, with each turn having a corresponding number of boxes. As you progress with each turn, there are fewer boxes for the creature to hide. The goal is to advance at the last turn so your creature can reach the center of the playing field.

A player starts by picking which box their creature will hide. On the first turn, you’ll chose one box from a set of 6. Once you’ve chosen, go over to your opponent’s boxes. From their, guess which box their creature is hidden. If you select the right box, your opponent loses a turn. Their creature must also start again at the beginning. However, if you miss, they advance to the next turn with fewer boxes. Likewise, your opponent will guess which box your creature is. As such, if they guess correctly, you miss a turn and your creature must start from the beginning. It’s a race against who gets their creature in the center first.

It’s harder to guess where the creature is when there are many boxes. But as your creature advances where there are only two boxes, it’s easy for the opponent to guess. This game may take some time and patience to complete. But it’s a fun and relaxing game to play if you’re moving away from busy action games.

Despite its appearance, Battle Battle is not quite a Pokemon clone. True enough, you have cartoon creatures that have superpower attacks that duke it out. But the battle system works differently. To win, your creature must reach the center of the goal. They dodge attacks by hiding in boxes. You must move your creature through a smaller set of boxes to progress through the level. Every time a creature gets hit, they start the course all over again.

Gameplay-wise, it resembles a Pokemon-flavored Let's Make A Deal. As they move through the boxes, the chance that they might get hit increases. In later levels, the number of boxes you move through decreases. Rather than a game of training and strategy, Battle Battle hinges on probability.
